Gareth Bale

Even if Spurs keep Bale, bring in Soldado and a few more they are nowhere near title challengers. Strong top 4 candidates and title challengers are completely different. Compare their expected starting 11 to those of Us/Chelsea/united there's only Bale that would definitely get in the others starting 11. Couple of midfielders would make the bench and the rest would be lucky to make the squad. Top 4, very real possibility, title challengers, no chance.

Lloris? Vertonghen?

lloris, whose team would he get into, arsenals maybe but thats all, vertonghen masked being a very poor defender by scoring some good goals last year.

Soldado is more of a 'Spanish' striker and a little more clinical but Negredo offers most of a physical presence in the box that will benefit him in the Premier League. Negredo is taller, stronger and better in the air. Soldado is slightly more consistent. I think Negredo suits the Premier League more than Soldado and could find adapting easier. He's quite like an English striker and would be an ideal striker for England (if he was English).

Ive got him down as our new Uwe,am I miles out?

Depends what his grandad did during the war

except they're not.

Ehh yea they are

Negredo goals per game: 0.42.
Soldado goals per game: 0.49.

Soldado gpg for Spain: 0.55.
Negredo gpg for Spain: 0.43.

Soldado for Valencia: 0.58.
Negredo for Sevilla: 0.50.

Soldado wins.

You're stats aren't fair, the quality of teams that they verse for Spain are different, they don't play the same amount of games and the quality the teams they play for are different (Valencia are better)

Based on last season Negredo was better

By 1 goal in the league having played 1 more game. Negredo had better stats last season. However over the course of his career Soldado has better stats, had better stats the year before than Negredo and if you think it's just a Valencia thing then Soldado also outperformed Negredo when he was in a much inferior Getafe outfit compared to Negredo being at a well performing Almeria.

My stats are perfectly fair in reality.

The whole stat argument can work either way. I don't like stats, I take them onboard but I don't give much weight to them on assessing a player. They don't take into account any of the variables like quality of side you are playing for or against. Negredo had a quality season last season and so you would suggest he is hitting peak form and it is a great time to sign him. On the other hand it could suggest it was an anomalie and that he will not reach that level again.

I think Negredo is a great signing, his attributes will add to our attack and we lacked that physicality and presence that he will provide. He would suit us better than Soldado. We have Aguero and Dzeko as well and that makes Negredo all the more effective in adding to our squad.

That spuds lineup looks very good but I think it is the strength in depth up front that they lack. If they were to sign Soldado and another striker or if they managed to stay injury free up top then they could certainly threaten the top 4. All shaping up to be a really exciting and competitive season ahead. I think we are (on paper) a level above all other prem teams in terms of strength in depth in the squad now.

It doesn't matter about stats if when it comes to it Soldado's agent says no to a move to City because he won't be guaranteed starter.

Soldado can score 100 goals in 10 games for all I care if he doesn't want to join then its pointless talking about it!
