Before you start not a thread slagging off a player, just a question...

what does he do?

IMO he doesn't get into the game enough, nowhere to be seen at times

BULLIED all night in midfield, de jong was clearing up the mess on his own,

the Midfield was the clear difference between the teams tonight.

If you'd care to look back to the threads on the day we bought him , you'd see hundreds saying that they thought he was the best thing since sliced bread ...... and then there was mine stating exactly what we were actually getting for £12 million we were paying ....... an average player who's ALWAYS been inconsistent for Aston Villa ..... having a few good games , and just as many bad ones , if not more

and he'll be exactly the same here , believe me!

I just don't see why Barry keeps getting in the side though ! First handful of game she looked the business (up until Villa away) but tonight he was awful - that free-kick in the 2nd half he floated onto Jagielka's head when the ball was being begged to be whipped in - he ran off and just shrugged his shoulders

For me tonight was a wierd game... thought we played ok, but got hit right b4 half time and didnt recover...

Barry for me is a good player, but he aint a box to box midfielder. He looks good for England, as he's not required to go forward much, is neat and tidy, doesnt give the ball away, and clears up.... In that position his passing seems good...

But when he's required further up the field, and to unlock defences, he just aint good enough. Like several other members of the team...

Barry is average. I said tonight what does he do

he does not drive forward or create
he does not score goals
he does not tackle
he is not defensive
he is slow and passin is erratic

I just do not see the purpose of having him in the side

Why does he float every free kick in at as slow a speed as possible, and why does he always direct them down the least threatening line/angle that he can think of? It really frustrates me how we see every other team whipping them in with pace, into dangerous areas, yet we have this clown cocking up each and every one of ours. With a bit of luck, he wont be in the team next season.
