Something I didn't notice whilst at the game last night but certainly took my breath away when I watched the match again in the early hours this morning and gets better and better with every viewing. Did Gareth Barry score not only the goal of the season but arguably one of if not City's greatest ever goal last night. Including a throw in, 20 simple but perfectly executed passes on the ground playing around the whole of the Liverpool side that was finished so effortlessly that I fear it's passed everyone by.

11.10 seconds on the clock and somewhere around the half way line....

De Jong takes a throw in back to Kolo,
Kolo controls it and passes it back to De Jong,
De Jong first time passes back to Kolo,
Kolo controls it and passes it into the centre circle to Barry,
Barry controls it and moves it out to wide right to Richards,
Richards controls it and gives it inside to Yaya,
Yaya controls it and plays it back 20 or more to yards to Kolo,
Kolo passes across our goal to Kompany,
Kompany controls the ball and passes out wide right to Richards,
Richards controls it and passes again inside to Yaya,
Yaya first time passes wide right to Johnson,
Johnson controls the ball and passes back nside to De Jong,
De Jong controls the pass and plays it forward 10 yards to Milner,
Milner turns and passes wide to Johnson,
Johnson passes inside to Yaya,
Yaya on the corner edge of Liverpools area with some tricky footwork beats his man and checks back to De Jong,
De Jong first time passes to Johnson,
Johnsons quick feet dinks a lovely pass through two Liverpool defenders and into the penalty area for Milner to run onto,
Milner cuts it back inside and across goal for,

12.06...54 seconds and 20 passes later

Barry strokes the ball effortlessly into the bottom corner away from the despairing dive of Reina.

I swear once you realise how many passes were involved including 8 team members go back and watch how easy they made it look and tell me its not one of the all time greatest goals we've ever scored.

I remember watching this phase of play and thinking how good it looked and marvelling and the pass and go movement and then suddenly it was in the back of the net. Brilliant stuff.

One thing's for sure, if Arsenal had scored it, they'd be raving about it.

Less than a year ago I was cursing our centre halves and keeper for lumping the ball up for Ade, Tevez and even SWP to battle it out in the air.

For all his critics (I am not one of them), Bobby has got us playing the best football in my 30 years as a blue. It will only get better too as the team play together more.

I can't wait.

Was a great goal, and worthy of comparison to what wasn't a goal, but was almost.

Of course I'm referring to the Wolves away game last year. In one move we played the most incredible one-touch counter attacking football, from one end ot the other, and yet Tevez managed to miss...

If you remember what I'm on about, you'll understand ;)

Agree entirely but oh well, as long as we know how good it was ...

Great post OP btw, I didn't realise it was so well-constructed.

It was just irresistible sexy and entertaining football, Barcelona class play. I was seriously amazed the entire game.

yes but we have to do it away from home, lets see sunday, sunny will come at city like tottenham did for the first twenty, this team i think holds it,s nerve a lot better than last term,

i saw a stat that both nigel and yaya had 94% accuracy on their passes... thats scary good. beautiful goal.
