Gareth Southgate and 'Boro are a great example...

Re: Gareth Southall and 'Boro are a great example...

Southgate has never managed before.

Hughes has and has proved himself to be competent elsewhere.

You could pick out any shite manager and say that. Should West Brom have sacked Mobray?

Newcastle sacked Allardyce and look where that got them.

Hughes and Southall are of not dissimilar calibre IMO.

Quite right but I don't think you can make a 100% decision on whether a manager is right or not off his first seasons. Two seasons - yes and if Hughes gets one and fucks it up then so be it - goodbye to him.

Southgate has been at Boro for a while now, because their chairman has stuck with him.

I would contest the point you make about Hughes's competency.

Spurs sacked Juan De Ramos, look where it got them...

Wet Sham sacked Alan curbishley... look where it got them

Fulham sacked Lawrie Sanchez... look where it got them.

Does Hughes look like he'll relegate us?

No, does he fuck. Completely different situations. Southgate took over at a very stable club and probably should have been sacked earlier this season to help stop relegation. He's been there a few seasons now and hasn't improved them

Hughes took over a madhouse and in his first season has built a platform which we can build on. This is his first season. He's set himself a benchmark that we must improve on next season. We'll hopefully have a far more settled team and club and should make big strides forward.

He never does that,i'm afraid his "Hughes is getting rid of Nedum" thread has made him one of the reasons why we think a lot of the Hughes outers are clowns.
He has actually conceded that TIME can influence what impact a manager can have on a club & he doesn't even realise it.

hmmm.. so in August hughes thisnks Ned is ok? January Hughes thinks Ned is shite, now... where does he stand?

The facts i quote relate to league positions and points, the majority of the other stuff is opinion - look in the dictionary and learn the difference. It is quite an important thing to understand.

One of the things that's taken Boro down has been that Gibson told Southgate to massively reduce the clubs wage bill and bring on the youth. That, coupled with their shit fan base, as seriously weakened their team (in the short-term).
