Garrido pondering his future........

Very good interview and it's nice to see a player say good things about the club when not in the first team. For me great going forward, but not strong enough in the tackle, although he has improved this season. He should only leave if we get a better replacement or he wants to go. As for Ball he will be gone in the summer when his contract is up, so I don't know why some posters should mention him.

Is it only me that really doesn't rate him?

For me a left back has to be able to DEFEND, Garrido cannot defend, he used to shit me up every time the ball went near him, gave away stupid free kicks in bad areas, gives the ball away often and I really just don't rate him. Might just be me though.

I have to take exception to this. Garrido's defending is not the best defender but it is improving all the time. Bridge is 28, a current England international and has spent his entire career in England and yet on the evidence I've seen so far Garrido is not much behind him. I haven't been impressed with Bridge's defending at all since he came here but I'm not gonna start slagging him off, he's a sound buy and will come good.

But to say Garrido gives the ball away too much is wrong, he's one of the best left back 'footballers' in the country imo. He has quality technique and good footballing ability with an engine that allows him to get up and down the pitch. What neither left back has in their favour is decent cover from either Robinho or Petrov so both can usually be excused the odd poor game.

Agreed - can play great when his confidence is up and I hope he stays and continues to improve.

I say he gives the ball away a lot because I can remember on a lot of occasions this season him just hoofing it up to no-one and it coming straight back at us and putting us under pressure, although I suppose you could say that Dunne/Richards/Ball/Ben-Haim all hoof it as well so he's not the only one.

Plus I always fail to see this great footballing side to him he's got, I remember him coming on last season against Bolton and we were 4-2 up and they were chasing the game and had all pushed up and Garrido did well at left midfield because he had no-one to run at, and since this game everyone said he can play left mid, I'm not so sure. The only other time I can remember him attacking well was when he set up Ireland for his goal against Hull away this season, otherwise I don't think he's been that good.

Different opinions I suppose.

I'd be more than happy with Bridge and Javi as our two left backs.

As an added bonus, Javi can easily play on the left of midfield if needed.

I would like to see Garrido stay and i think he will
Balls knee is fooked and will be gone as soon as his contract runs out.

Garrido only has Bridge in front of him, and if he knuckles could push Bridge for a starting place.

And strong competition is needed for every position. I hope he stays. He HAS been indifferent for us at times but he wouldn't be a weak back up in any sense of the word.

i would hate to see him go(nothing to do with my user name............. honest ) i went to the arsenal game and imo he was the best defender on the pitch, was verry impressed. having said that i dair say he's replaceable, i would just be a tad disapointed for.......errr.......personal reasons......

;)

Like Elano I think this guy is a great footballer but the prem seems to shock everyone in terms of effort which then turns into the pace of the game

Its good to see a spanish guy stick up for the club, and now you can rip me to bits with your opinion(this will prob be never reply'd to) here goes:

1) When Garrido played with Petrified(Petrov non south stand) it was amazingly brilliant and amazignly bad

2) Again like Elano he seems to be intersested in the future of the club - which was previousley waining

3) You need to build solid foundations and dont fuck with the boss untill everyone gets used to it

See 3) I think now that the players realise what is expected, and I now think that Hughes (slated again from the Sven boys) has set standards. If you dont like it then fuck off and time will tell if Elano cant take a kick up the arse and Jo is fucking moody

Conclusion: The standards are set if you dont like fuck off!!

Players are coming around to the idea that if you dont try or cause trouble then fuck off from this great club

CTID

Pissed again as I think i have contradicted myself and used little I and i in the wrong context

I really like Garrido too. Like people are saying, he's improved vastly this year and who's to say he wont carry on improving, rather than saying get rid now? If Bridge gets injured Garrido can fit in perfectly and for £1.5m he's a bargain. Especially when you compare the price Newcastle paid for José Enrique.

Plus he can take a good free kick, something none of our players seem to be able to do anymore. And, his delivery is impressive as well. I hope he stays. I'd rather Ball went.
