Garry Cook appointed head of UK UFC

Good luck to him.

Love the UFC, hopefully he can expand the sport here, and maybe move it to Sky instead of ESPN.

The champ is called Anderson Silva or something. He'll be drooling with excitement.

Oh dear there is another chance for one of his (in)famous gaffes, "And now we present David Silva................... oops I mean Anderson Silva"!!

Isn't he the one that wore the City shirt entering the ring

No. Renzo Gracie wore a City training top (or something similar) to the weigh-in the day before an event held in Abu Dhabi.

Hardly surprising, Khaldoon looking after his own..

Lets not forget that Flash Entertainment who are a big organiser of events in UAE and a substantial shareholder in UFC are owned by the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority..which happens to be in the hands of our Khaldoon.

What exactly is UFC? What do they do?

Ultimate Fighting Championship.

It's a mixed martial arts competition/company.

Check UFC.com, they have free bouts you can click on in their videos section if you're interested, particularly look out for Anderson Silva matches.

This video should give you a good insight.

Oh. Thanks for the heads up. Not something that interests me (hence my lack of knowledge on the name) but good luck to the bloke.

An update guys...

Skip to 17min in this video, this is where Garry is introduced and City are mentioned.

I've not only followed UFC for many years, but also the business of MMA for awhile now and I believe this is a big thing for MMA in Europe, with the talent pool over here beginning to get exploited by the UFC alot more.

I saw this coming a few years back, with UFC announcing an event over in Abu Dhabi.
This event followed the %10 ownership purchase by AD govt.

Seeing Cook's face pop up in The UFC was of no surprise to me.

Also Note: Dana speaks to press about future events and how profitable The UK is... Guess which City he mentions first? Manchester...

Possibly see UFC hosted at The Etihad rather than the previous MEN Arena?

Or is this a sign that a future events arena is going to be built at SportCity to rival MEN Arena?

Good luck Garry.

Am sure I remember him doing a bit of kickboxing or similar in Thailand just after he'd joined City
