i could be chatting shit but thats what ive been told.

Re: gary linker

He is famous for never getting booked, he got an award for it and a cheque in the early 90s.

You would not have been asking otherwise would you?

The award was the FIFA fair play award in 1990.

It'd be rude not to mention his missus.

I seem to remember him getting a yellow in his last game for spurs before he went off to Japan to play there.
Smarmy git who was a bit like the goody two shoes kid at school you always wanted to punch

The award was the FIFA fair play award in 1990.

The England team won that award and it was presented before the 3rd place play-off lloss to Italy in Italia 1990. I 'm not sure that he got another award in about 1992 or 1994 when he retired from England or Footy all together.

Lineker was never booked and former-Gooner Alan Smith was booked once.

Doubt they would have the same disciplinary record playing today.

FIFA World Cup Fair Play Award

Since the 1978 World Cup, FIFA oficially gives the Fair Play Award. It
is given to to the team with the best record of fair play according to
a points system and criteria established by the FIFA Fair Play Committee.
Only teams qualified to the second round are eligible.

YEAR WINNER
1978 Argentina
1982 Brazil
1986 Brazil
1990 England
1994 Brazil
1998 England - France [shared]
2002 Belgium
2006 Brazil – Spain [shared]

Yeah crap.

I was on about the award he retired whcih is not on Wikipaedia, which I think was from the FA and he got £15,000 or so.

Don't know what the referee did in his report or it was mistaken identity - but he was definitely shown the yellow during the Spurs game 1/2/92 at Maine Road.

No idea what award he won with money. Still just responding to the fact you said the England team won the award(not gary himself), while technically they did win a world cup fair play award, Gary won the fifa fair play award himself. (that is awarded yearly), so yea crap.

Link was above.

I said the England team won it as they did (you may have worked out there is an annual and a world cup one so they both can) I never said Lineker didn't.

He got an award for not getting booked in his career too, which was later than 1990 as he played on for clubs and country. However you won't be able to find it on any wikipaedia site so you will not know about it.
