It'd be rude not to mention his missus.

post of the year for me.

Corky[/quote] I said the England team won it as they did (you may have worked out there is an annual and a world cup one so they both can) I never said Lineker didn't. He got an award for not getting booked in his career too said:

The award was the FIFA fair play award in 1990.

The England team won that award and it was presented before the 3rd place play-off lloss to Italy in Italia 1990. I 'm not sure that he got another award in about 1992 or 1994 when he retired from England or Footy all together.

You said the England team won THAT award. No they didnt, they won a seperate world cup Fair play award. And your right, i have no idea what award he got with a cheque for 15k, but neither do you.

Im sure the great Alan Oakes was only booked the once, and it was a right weak booking to.
Anyone confirm ?

I was on about the World Cup award hence the award at Italia '90. If you would have known about this maybe you wouldn't start with the abuse.

Look on wikipeadia for manners.

Gary Lineker was book just once. It was his last game before retiring if I am not mistaken. But he definately got booked just 1 time, it was a yellow.

not a blokes bloke, annoyed me as a player and now as a presenter

Prefer Adrian Chiles on MOTD 2 anyday.
Game for a laugh and like many City fans he dosn,t mind the piss being taken out of his beloved WBA Team, likewise we,ve had years of piss taking.
But thats now history,UNLESS Garry Cook can come up some more crap !!!

Dived (twice) against Cameroon in that 1990 World Cup. I remember the commentator (Motson, I think) saying how the African's weren't "clever enough" to handle him. Hell of a euphemism, that.

Personally, I never much minded the guy one way or another, until he did the "I'm a famous celebrity now, luv" bit and left the woman who bore his kids, stood by him during the early years of his career and suffered with him as their child fought a life threatening illness - and for what? Some wannabe celebridee with her arse in the air..?

(I know, I know... other people's marriages are none of my damn business. Sorry, I've been reading too much of the wife's Heat Magazine, I think).
