The job of these people is literally to rile people up about 'outsiders' coming into the country. It's a tactic which is hundreds of years old. It's the main reason Hitler got into power as they riled people up about Jews 'flooding the country', taking people's jobs, not paying their way' etc. They dehumanise the minority target so that the victim of the propaganda (such as yourself) loses any sort of human empathy towards them.

People coming over on boats has happened for as long as there's been boats. It's not a new thing. The only thing which has changed is the exposure of it as news since social media especially turns it into a larger narrative and problem than it really is. There's no real world scenario where an entire coast line is covered to stop people crossing - it's literally impossible as it's over a hundreds of miles long.

What are you expecting? An army helicopter to fly around and shoot & sink the boats?

Labour have had 1 year - they've struck a one in out deal with France, they're working on border bills (Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill) which will give law enforcements tougher tools to go after the smuggling gangs, migrants granted asylum will no longer automatically gain settlement and family reunion rights which will reduce the incentive for many, 100 million allocated to the Border Security Command / National Crime Agency to strengthen investigation, intelligence, intercept supply chains etc , they have Increased returns/removals of people without right to remain - over 35,000 people with no right to be here have been returned which is way up on previous years, (social media ads) in countries warning about the dangers of small boat journeys, the risk of smuggling gangs etc , asylum decisions have more than doubled and fewer people are in hotels, agreementwith Germany to let UK seize boats stored/transferred through Germany, to cut off supply routes, Working with Frontex (EU’s border agency) for intelligence-sharing. that's all in 1 year. alot of this will take time to seep through but Labour have done far more in a year than what the Tories did in 14.

I am more saddened by what is going on in Gaza because of its sheer scale, and the fact that it is supported by our government, and our press, or has been. The attack on the synagogue was appalling, utterly, but comparisons are futile, and personal - both are deplorable and unacceptable.

As I said, I don't want to stop immigration.

What we have, and to me it is a far bigger priority, is huge inequality, and a slashing of public services for nearly 20 years. Add on the cost of living and it is a catalyst for fury. There's no magic wand to stop people getting on a boat in France across hundred miles+ of coastline. They know that too, but they know by saying they're going to fix it that you'll vote for them. It's Brexit all over again. Remember when that was supposed to change the situation?

It isn't dogshit. The politicians shouting about the asylum seekers and winding the public up about it, are filling their pockets because of this and becoming more powerful as a result. And it enables whichever government is in at the time to bring in even more laws reducing freedoms.

We have border controls, always have had (well, they became weaker due to Brexit which again, helped the same politicians...). Anyone turning up applies to stay and either passes or doesn't.

You're right though, it isn't necessarily racist to want stricter controls. However, there are also large numbers of racists who do share that view, I don't think you can deny that. Why do you want the controls to be stricter?
