Gary Neville

That's the problem being a fan and watching the shit and having to talk about it to a huge audience after the event, hurting him like mad, trying to come across as an expert, and some desperate justification.

Don't ever forget this fucking idiot was sacked as a manager by a so called mate, and that is all he is a fucking idiot, he's basically a glorified Goldbridge or Brent whatever the cunts name is, with a bigger audience to talk to, where the majority of the audience laughing their bollocks off, at the shite they spout week in and week out.

That spitting scouse **** is no better, but we shall concentrate on GNIAC being as it is a thread about him.

Smacked arsed fucking wanker that he is

Before the takeover Spuds were arguably a bigger club in terms of historical success. Even then you could only base this success on FA cup wins and the seasons they’ve spent at the top level. But when does the past become history- in terms of success, revenue and standing in Europe we’ve left them far behind.
I think Ratboy made his initial statement and the other pundits were clearly not in agreement and he back tracked. Otherwise I’d like to know the foundation of his argument
And when has seasons in the top flight ever counted at honours, or in fact as any kind of metric of note? Honours yes, or crowd size, at a push.

Looking. I see spurs have 2 league titles. But I also see Sunderland have won 6.
FA Cups are piffle compared to league titles, in my book anyway.

As you’re suggesting history blah blah, all depends on when you start. Let’s have closer look at 1900 to 1960 shall we Gary?

Spot on.
There is no foundation to his argument, that's why he wouldn't, couldn't elaborate. By what measure are they a bigger club than us ?..right now, nothing, they're not even remotely comparable. They are light years behind us in almost every measure.
Prior to the Good Sheik's takeover, trophy wise there was hardly any difference. In fact real success, in terms of winning the league, after their last major trophy in 1961, we had a better record. They had more FA Cups than us (8-4 at the time). Congratulations.
Attendances, we were miles ahead of those deluded twats right until we spent time in the lower divisions through the a lot of the nineties. Even then we were comparable. They only had more world wide exposure during the Premier League's formative years whilst we were in Div 1.
So in the overall historical scheme of things, we were comparable but for approximately a 10 year the period form mid 90's to mid 2000's. We' are now in a place they couldn't even dream about, in every measure.
People like Neville have become more and more bitter as the years go by. All they have left are baseless, futile pot shots at us and living in the distant past.
We are creating and living a glorious history right now, with more to come. It's in their faces and they can't cope. Long may it continue.

Not that it really matters afterall this 'bigger club" stuff is pretty meaningless but Spurs were a bigger club. Dominated the FA Cup in the days when winning the FA Cup was very big. First British team to win the double AND the first British team to win a European trophy.

It's very popular to bash Spurs these days and laugh at the lack of recent success but I think many modern fans won't realise the glory years that Tottenham once had.

As for 'Spurs couldn't even dream about' I'm sure you could have said the same about you before 2008. What happened to you could easily happen to Spurs when you think about it.

FWIW I have no problem with City at all and cheered you on vs Arsenal(obviously) and Liverpool in recent years.

So this is interesting as on another forum I'm on its basically primarily Liverpool fans saying that City are a small club and had no real success before the takeover blah blah blah.

I'm not here to argue that one way or the other but what I would like to know is do you even care? Surely what matters is recent history, not something that happened ages ago right? Would you swap your 4 in a row and the treble to be 'as big as' Manchester United? Surely you wouldn't right? I mean Siberia is a bigger place than Thailand but I know where I'd rather retire!

Not particularly
Was also making the point how bitter Neville and co are, and it's just a little cream on top of the cake.
You are correct, wouldn't swap with anyone and by a long way.
Good analogy.

Tell them this…

Liverpool first won the FA Cup 61 and 59 years after City and Everton respectively.

Up until 1973 City and liverpool had the same number of major trophies each, 8 so if City have no history when did liverpools history start?

It just sums up this word 'history' as a euphemism for success. Going down to the third tier of English football and back up again, all the while maintaining your support, is a far more interesting history that ambling along as a mid-table Premier League team for 20 years like Spurs or Everton. But no-one supports City for that reason, because when people bang on about how they love a team for their 'history' what they're really doing is admitting they just like the most successful team.

Neville is in danger of his media saturation reaching a tipping point.

His mixing of politics with his football already pisses off plenty of people, his “all red, all the time” narratives do the same, but his constant whining about other, more successful clubs, and framing everything from the perspective of Class of 92 bullshit, has exceeded its sell by date.

Throw in his connection to Spitter and it is REALLY HARD to listen to anything they say anymore.
