Gary Owen

Wolves Away (1979 -80 I think!) He was sat in front of me and my mate in the Maine Stand at Molineaux.
He was at West Brom and must of been injured. He was sat with Roger Palmer (still at City at the time).
It was when Wolves programmes were like newspapers!
A Wolves fan kept standing up going on with himself and GO smacked him over the head with his programme and told him to sit down.
This guy turned around to give some stick back and then realised who it was and just sat down!
Pissed ourselves laughing!

remember comming back from a summer holiday from ireland when i was about 5 or 6yrs and started crying I could not belive it dont know how you older fellas felt at the time when we got rid of owen and barnes my dad was laughing the rag

I'm going on Friday-I'll no doubt pass on the good wishes of fellow Bluemooners to Gary when I'm very pissed.

When I was a kid... I saw Gary outside Maine rd a few days before he left and asked, pleadingly, "you're not gonna leave are you Gary..?"
He looked at me and replied.... in a sympathetic, reassuring kind of way.. "No..."
...The lyin git...

I took my 12 year old lad to the Citizen's lounge for the Scunthrope Carling Game. Gary owen was compere. We were sat very close to where he did "his stuff". He kept on coming over and talkign to us and was brilliant with my lad. Big Joe Corrigan then came over and was equally as gracious and chatty.

GO and all the ex players who dod the hospitality stuff do a great job for the club.

Top man and Iam named after him (I think?)...its what my dad always said to me anyway..
When did he join us anybody know?.

He made his debut towards the end of the 1975/6 season, IIRC, when he was about 18. Presume he joined from school a couple of years earlier.
