Gate for Hull

just got in , and 38,000 is a good turn out , but i really do think the traffic issues in Manchester are making people think twice about attending night matches , from the end of the M602 , it took me an hour to progress the last 3 miles to the ground , 5 in my car and we all bunked off work early to get to the game . Would also like to thank the Highways Agency for closing the M602 at 10pm and putting another hour on my journey , the numptees that run the Highway agency having got a brain between them , total wankers. They must have had a meeting ,and decided , lets close the M602 when there are 40000 attending a football match , and we will close at 10pm instead of 11pm , so the fans cant get out of Manchester , they are bunch of brainless dickheads , rant over.

One thing that annoyed me about tonight was the laid back attitude of fans.

There were days when getting to a League Cup Quarter Final was a really big thing and losing as we always did was a big blow. I can understand it, but its not welcome.

It was like getting to Wembley vs Sunderland. They were well up for it. We weren't

Bit worried about facing Everton, Liverpool Stoke etc in the next round. The semi will be massive for the other club, but for City fans it doesn't seem to matter that much

I can't get motivated for a competition that no longer defines our season. That said I'll probably get a ticket for the final should we get there
I can't get motivated for the league cup early rounds .
May be it's because ,I'm spoilt by the amount of games we play .
Anyway I'm more into watching the home champions league matches .

Suspect phishing here but this is the type of fan that irritates me.
Not willing to go to the early round cup games, home or away, but if we get to the Wembley final they're crying out for a ticket.
Same faces I see every week there tonight, hardcore city, well quarter final used to be a bonus, semi here we come, love it

I managed to leave my seat 5 minutes into half time, go for a piss, grab a coffee and still be back before the players came back out. It was great.

38,500+ is not a bad attendance when all is said and done, so let's not blind ourselves to that just because there were 15,000 empty seats. We were discussing this at the game, saying that we must be spoilt as we'd have given our right hands for even a League Cup QF prior to 2008.

Funnily enough we played Spurs in the League Cup in the 2007/8 season at home so I checked the attendance. A quarter-final against attractive opposition, at a time when we hadn't had any success for over 30 years and had won all our home games so far that season. So you'd assume we'd sold out for that, yes?

In fact, the crowd was virtually the same as tonight's at 38,564.

I see what you mean for many, but i know us 2 were well up for it - we want another Wembley trip (again!!!) - LOVE it, a trophy is a trophy and to me the league cup counts, those moaning about it are disrespecting the way we clung to that 1976 win for donkeys years yet to some it's now a tin pot trophy. I want to win it, and realy wanted the win tonight,

However it was hard to even watch the first half thanks to the two under 6 kids in front who spent the whole first half just pissing about looking behind them, throwing things, moaning, shouting united (he had a city top!), and just being a shit. I have no probs with kids coming to matches, the other ones dotted around our row seemed into the match, but ffs why take your kid if they have the attention level of a tortoise and no doubt play up at home as well. I sound like a moody old fart, but i'm only 40! It's just they were so so so bad, with the parents constantly fiddling with them (oo-er!) and it was just a bloody pain. We were in our season ticket seats so i blame the usual people in front for not turning up ;) That and kids for a quid being so cheap some use it instead of paying a baby sitter (was it a quid or a fiver in east stand?)

Oh that and not forgetting the 2 behind us who never stopped talking about the fact that the atmosphere was shit and not "like the old days on the kippax" and it turns out they hadn't been in the stadium for 5 years. Well maybe just maybe if you didn't spend the whole match talking about shit atmospheres and cheered the team, it wouldn't be so shit! (Though i guess with those damn kids in fron it was hard for the first half anyway).

What a fun night!

Rant over ;)

I enjoyed tonight. A bit like the old days pre takeover: concourses not packed at half time and no large queues for the toilets. The only thing that was different from the old days was we won!

agree really enjoyed tonight, ground was full of actual city fans imo ( compared to say champions league games ), wasn't any moaning, lots of singing, very enjoyable.
