Last night the gate next to the Maine Road Chippy on Ashton New Road was locked stopping people coming and going down towards The Townley pub. Does anyone know if this is an official part of crowd control or just a local resident having bought a big padlock from B&Q. Its not the end of the world, but its a bloody nuisance.

All the gates were locked happened for the derby I asked the Police and they said the club did it. Baffling as to why it happened last night

They locked it on derby day and just assumed it was because of the trouble at back of Townley last year. The one closer to Mary Ds was open though. All were open v Arsenal

Surely the it's a police or council matter. City don't own that stretch of land so why should they be allowed to close it. That's quite baffling. Maybe City have asked the council, but surely it wouldn't be our decision..

Alley Gates were normally Council initiatives 20 years ago as part of burglary reduction schemes.
