I'm not sure if it's news by definition. But most of our "news" channels or "newspapers" struggle to live up to the definition these days.
It's publicity seeking. And it will work. You'll have plenty of people happy to watch because they like the fact it's "freedom of speech" supporting. And you'll have plenty of others who will watch in outrage, but still watch.
