You probably think that I need to grow up because if he had try to give me his shirt today I would have chucked it back at him. I don't want great guys in the City team I want quality players who can do more than just compete at this level. They can be kicking crutches from under the disabled for their fun for all I care. Its what they do or don't do on the field thats important to me.

I do wonder about the mentality of some of our fans who were at the game today and who have written on this thread today. Do they not see that Elano was dead on his feet after the effort he put in on Thursday and for the five minutes before he was subbed the game was passing him by and he was starting to become a passenger. In addition he had taken a knock a few minutes before he scored the penalty. We needed to add another tackler on the pitch to stop West Brom walking through our midfield. At 3-2 we were still looking shaky and obviously Hughes had seen where the problem lay..........not that Elano was being poor, it was because he was knackered FFS.
I have never heard a City player being booed so much when he is coming onto the pitch as a substitute. He is wearing a City shirt, and deserves all the support a young lad who always gives 100%.
I don't know where all this negativity is coming from in City fans recently. Too many of them spend all their time complaining about the manager, the players, the food bars etc etc etc. Get behind your team and support them and if you don't want to then please stay at home and watch it on TV. I'd rather have 28,000 fans there who all stand and shout and sing than 40,000 amongst whom are thousands who just exude crapness.
This is our club and we are City. Whatever happened to the 'City till I die' attitude..........win , lose or draw.
spot on, i feel a few city fans are becoming abit ragish, i thought we were a class above it

Yet again we see this rubbish about "stop being critical and get behind the team"

What right do you have to asssume that the critics are not supporting the team?

I agree, he's always struck me as a totally committed guy, very professional and intelligent (the exact opposite of everyone who boos him on and scream 'twat' at him at the match).

Agree 100%. Well said.

have i said that? dont think so. im critical all the time about city, but i save my booing and slagging off of players for on here, not at the game where they need support, not people booing them and getting on there back when there holding onto a game

It's not fair to the lad when he is booed before even taking his first touch. Sarcastic cheers from some in east stand just wasn't on as well after he completed a pass.

There should be a booing stand for all of you that have decided to destroy the support that the rest of us have created for the team and club. I participated in many a SWALES OUT [RIP] campaign, but that was never directed against the players in the shirt. It's a mystery to me why some people bother supporting the club.

This is rediculous! Get it into your skull - THE MOJORITY WERE NOT BOOING FERNADES (however poor he may be) THEY WERE BOOING HUGHES' DECISION TO INTRODUCE HIM AT THAT POINT IN THE GAME!

Not only that - the hypocracy of it - "i save my booing and slagging off of players for on here"...What are we doing now? We're being crytical of a player who yes is young blah blah blah...but he is poor. Has anyone actually said "oh yes i was booing Fernandes because he's poor"? - "dont think so"

Good god, we can't wrap them up in cotton wool and pretend that they're 100% right 100% of the time - because theyre proffesionals. We can see the chuffing mistakes, the cock ups, the bad decisions. There's only so much a crowd can do - we can't scream and shout for joy at a match that we're "holding onto". The players have to give us something to get upbeat about (Given's said it!) so I think if people want to express their dismay at a decision they should - they pay their money they have their say.

Maybe we should clarify somehow we're not booing the poor sod personally - i don't know. It mystifies me sometimes.

just an athlete (probably a good 800m runner?) and not much of a footballer

not what we need if we are to progress

i must say he isnt a bad player just funny to watch him couple of guys next to me call him bambi and stuff just have a laugh. hes a good player and deserves a chance but its not his fault that hughes brings him into a game at stupid times or brings him on for our best player on the pitch
