I am going to vote Tory out of necessity, for the first and hopefully last time in my life.

Hopefully this will be the kick up the arse Labour needs to clear out the far left loons infesting the party, because fuck me do we need a credible opposition.

Make no mistake, voting for the Tories strategically or whatever, isn't ever going to help labour or the left.

When you look at the state of the opposition, it's hardly a difficult task is it?
I didn't just mean the upcoming election mate, I'm making a general point.
For example Cameron's decision to hold the EU referendum was nothing to do with what was best for the country it was a cynical ploy to win votes at the next election ( it worked) and preserving the unity of the Tory party.

Agree

Agree probably a good result all round. Labour can get rid of a crap leader and utopian ideology and get back to reality with a more electable vision for the country. And the Tories and May can push ahead with a mandate. Have to say I would like a option that said none of the above on the ballot paper.

Sorry, but who is this magical electable Labour leader in waiting ?

Its either a socialist like Corbyn - which the country does not want or another 'blairite' which again there is no desire for - In todays social media world whoever the next Labour leader is will be absolutely slaughtered both personally and politically.

Me and Mrs Xiphos have a face to face meeting arranged with our constituancy MP scheduled for May, will she still be doing these meetings or will such mundane things be cancelled?
We have been ringing her office all morning and it just rings out, no reply to emails either!

Fair point.

I dont know, there must be somebody out there anybody is better than this clown, what's that johnson chappie doing nowadays?

No chance of an extinction happening
There are so many safe Labour constituencies that no matter who the candidate or the leader of the Party, they will always remain Labour seats

It's something like 20% of constituencies where everything is decided and Labour will win very few, if any of those
It depends on the definition of 'extinction' though, there are plenty of non safe Labour seats that could be taken by all sides, and if they lose substantial numbers, it may be very difficult to recover, and sadly the country is in bad need of an effective opposition, and right now to get that, Labour needs to get rid of Corbyn, there is no other opposition, and even a coalition seems unlikely.

If it's after Parliament has been dissolved then you don't actually have an MP until the election.

It's funny as fuck when left wingers are against an election for the reason that they know they'll be twatted.
I'm not so sure SWP, this election will be like no other it's a Brexit election, i know the Tories are confident but things will come into play that we have never had to factor in before, my local shopkeeper votes Tory but is a remoaner and he said this morning he's not voting for anybody, it's going to be closer than people think

Voters who voted ukip will be the surprise package, the Tories will get a fair few votes from them come the GE.

Hopefully someone who is not as left wing as Corbyn. I am not a labour voter but I do want a credible opposition party who can hold the government to account. Over the past few elections both main parties have have been hugging the middle ground thats how Bliar came to power. With the loss of their mps in Scotland the only way Labour stand a chance again is if they do the same thing and lean right. There simply isnt enough old school left wing socialists in our country.

38% actually.

The Tories will lose their sole seat. Labour might win back a couple of the 41 they lost but still a rout.

Labour have never recovered from collaboration with the Tories during project fear and they never will.
Labour have never recovered from the 70's
