My point is, if I was in my 30's, knowing my playing career is nearly over, with millions in the bank, I'd rather be playing than sat on a bench. It's about experiences/playing over a bit more money, these guys have already earnt enough for a few generations to live in luxury.
Where I work, when I do overtime, I toil it, (time off in lieu) so instead of getting paid it, I earn extra holidays, do something with the kids. Money can't buy that time I spend with them. Just like money can't buy that season where they played 40 games for that new team instead of 8 sub appearances sat on the bench for us.
