General transfer rumours

Think this is a good idea..

The transfer window will shut before the start of the PL season next year, with almost all of the 20 clubs backing the idea. [Telegraph]

Crazy notion this will come in to force, every team in the UK can agree but it'd need Europe as a whole to agree to it. You can't have our window shutting before the season starts & the rest of Europes staying open. It'll never work, it needs to be everyone or nobody.

Why would it not work? Everyone would know when the English window was going to shut and they would have to time their deals accordingly.

They debated this on Talksport last week if not the week before, & they've already stated it won't happen unless the majority around Europe agree to it as the windows hard enough for smaller clubs to do deals in as is.
Think about it... Barca want one of our players (think us with Sanchez) they bid & sign him last day of our window. Great for them but shit for us! How do we now replace that player? Barca still have time to sign others & strengthen yet one of their European rivals (Us) can no longer strengthen & has in fact been weakened.

why does it matter what europe do? If our league state that as of midnight before the day the league starts is the end, then we cant buy, simple really.

See my reply a page back.

would we sell one of our irreplacable players on August 31st as with the current system? no!
Nor would we do it the day before the season starts if that was the cut-off. You have no argument mate, its just dates and planning.

Lol if we had a buy out on Aguero for say £60m then if Barca triggered it the day before we've no leg to stand on. It was argued in depth last week & they said they won't sanction window shutting weeks apart.

Stupid idea
1. Simple scenario - us and PSG in fight for Mbappe - PSG just play long game, offer mega money to keep auction going... once our season starts we are out of the picture, they then drop price OR we are forced to pay much higher price as our hand is forced.
2. Post deadline day- A player becomes available in Europe that would strengthen any side. We are not able to bid. We are weakened by others strengthening.
Etc etc etc

It would be transfers between English clubs that would be unable to be completed once the season starts, European transfers wouldn't be affected.

What a relief. Needs to be done.
Something needs to be done imo, this whole window thing has done nothing other than create a drama around it all, it's become a circus led by sky. All this yellow tie yellow dress deadline day nonsense has become essential viewing for some people (usually those with a little too much time in their hands) dunno what the answer is though.

Thanks for clarification. Would English out to Europe be completed as well? If so the situation with Sanchez would put PSG in driving seat in the current situation

Lol, what if it happened in 2 weeks time on deadline day, exactly the same. No leg to stand on, no argument.

I think the majority within the game agree, that in an ideal world the window would close by the time the season kicks off.
However for the reasons discussed within this forum, it will only work if a worldwide or at least a European wide deal is reached.

Given the divisions that exist within UEFA, particularly in regards to the EPL, I think unfortunately we are some way off agreement on this issue.
