General transfer rumours

If its true then why the fuck did they reject our seemingly cash + bony deal for stones?

So they could get the title of making stones the most expensive english defender in history?

It would then have been dependent on Bony agreeing to join Everton. Not the easiest decision he could come to as any new pay deal would be a heap less enticing than the one he's already on.

Probably because a swap deal is incredibly complicated and time consuming and we needed to get Stones in before the CL registration deadline.

Could be something to do with FFP? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't a player's value amortised over the length of the contract? This would leave Everton with a 47m lump sum for Stones on the books but only a percentage of the Bony fee going out, as opposed to only a ~£22m fee for Stones in a swap deal?
