General transfer rumours

No one wants to go there.
I think they are playing it well. Good and likable manager. Slowly building the squad. Easy to forget they were relegation material mid point of last season. If they can get well inside the top 10 this year then it's a massive improvement and just like us they will just keep plugging away in the transfer market.

Its not a bright move though. He is plating for relegation fodder. If he has one bad season then nobody is going to go near him with the wages he demands. Could have signed a 4 year and gaurenteed some stable income regardless of his form
His talent levels are well established. He'll get a deal barring injury. Beside, he is betting on himself. That's what confident people do.

Tuchel: “We got sanctioned and players left us, we know that some players are trying to leave us, and this is where it is. We had an urgent appeal for quality players and a huge amount of quality players. We've got two quality players – that is no doubt – but we are not competitive like this and, unfortunately, we could see it today." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...chel-questions-chelseas-ability-compete-next/

I predict Chelsea targets next week is Frenkie De Jong, Aké (again), Ronaldo, Fofana (Kounde-alt.) and a bit of Rice on the side. This scatter-gun american (Boehly) approach is crazy. And they will give away (similarly to Lukaku) Werner (BVB) and Ziyech (Milan) late in the window. And be stuck with the two spanish elder statesmen.

I love Koulibaly though.

Thought Newcastle would have spent a fortune by now.
I think there were issues regarding PL FFP. Also, there were complaints to the PL about their new owners & Newcastle skewing the transfer market, similar to what happened to us with UEFA.

Luckily, they didn't have that loadsamoney fool that we did in our earliest days, scaring the bejesus out of everyone claiming City intended to buy every top player on the planet! In that respect again, it seems they've learned from our errors.

Maybe there waiting to pick up Chelsea cast offs when Chelsea are desperate to sell

Dunno mate. If you recall, we had to pay top dollar in terms of transfers & wages for essentially England B players in Lescott, Barry, Milner etc, but it worked.

With the foreign brigade of Kompany, Zabs, NDJ etc added the likes of Bellamy, Kolo & Nasri, we essentially improved enough to start attracting the Yaya's, Silva's, Dzeko's, Balotelli's & Aguero's of this world.

Newcastle's future has been made infinitely easier, because they have our template of mistakes & triumphs to guide them in walking the same path we trod.
