I don't think they can stop it. I also don't really believe it will happen anyway. Newcastle could have paid his fee if they wanted him. Saudi are offering those wages because they want him in now, they are trying a big defining summer. Makes little sense, a loan move. Other than, it is good shock/rage clickbait.

What Bin Salman is doing to golf is an abomination. All the aura of Augusta and the history of the golf majors is being pissed on

How would you feel if Bin Salman announced a tennis tournament with a 1billion prize money during the month of Wimbledon.

He has no respect for the institutions of sport. HIs end game is political too, if you cant see it, yoour missing it

Saudi have every right to create a league and maybe the best league in the future.

Once Italy was the league to play in for the major stars, then it was us in the PL.

Who knows where the next big league will be, but no one has the right to tell anyone where it should be.

The PL and La liga have both shot themselves in the foot with their crazy FFP rulings, this may well be a huge wake up call.

It's called Capitalism fella... Or it is when it's white Americans involved. But when its brown Muslims, it's called "sports washing", "rocking the foundations" & "having no respect for institutions".

When you helped create the Premier League in 1992, & rocked the Football League to its foundations, where was your respect for their institution?

You basically showed zero respect toward the Football League & were happy to rob them of their top Division.

So why're you complaining now that a brown Islamic nation are possibly doing to European football, what you did to the English Football League?

Also, can you elaborate on your "political endgame" claim too?

why no money? wages, loan fee etc would all need to be negotiated and measured against what they would expect the market to be for the deal. PL would then approve or not.

Is what is happening to golf really an abomination??, are you shedding tears for the PGA tour??
The same PGA tour which has effectively swallowed up the European tour
The same PGA tour which in the past ruled golf and the rules thereof together with the R&A, in all the controversy which has followed the deal with LIV, I have not heard of one statement from the R&A, it seems that the PGA has turned them into an irrelevance.
Golf is a global sport, yet outside of the Open Championship all of the biggest tournaments take place in the USA, should not one Major at least be moved around the world.
The Americans rule golf, no question - their corporations rule golf to be more precise, I would argue that they do not do it very well, they do it in a very autocratic manner, change might be good. In the same way I believe that the American owners taking over Football would be a disaster, yet it almost happened in the shape of the European league, there is nothing good that I can see about US business running sport.
What political end game do you speak of??
