had a year in his contract , didn't sign a new one as he wanted minutes in the first team , barca came calling - to be fair we didn't have any choice

Wasn't ready though?? Was far too lightweight at that time, obviously had bags of ability but was too early and the club was determined it had to win at all costs and wouldn't stray from the main players.

But he wasn't ready for first team football at city.

Which is why he went to the Spanish 3rd division for a year, and then Sevilla where he came off the bench a lot (16 starts, 15 sub appearances) , and then Villareal.

He left us at 18 And he's only just going to Barcelona to be a back up now at 22.

He clearly just wanted to go back to Spain or be a part of Barcelona, even as a loanee (actually not as a loanee because they actually sold him twice with buy backs).

The leaving for first team game time excuse just doesn't add up.

He left when Pellegrini arrived, not sure he can be blamed for this one , though I would agree that he doesn't seem to have given much of a chance to subsequent youth players.
 
Suarez has had real reservations about going back to Barca as he wanted guarantees about how much playing time he would get.
Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
