General UFC thread

Look, let's not get mental everyone. To start saying that Conor wasn't that good is mental, before he got the money and lost track of what he is, he was phenomenal. He didn't look that bad yesterday, but he came across a different animal than the first fight. The problem with Conor has always been that if he can't get you out of there early, he struggles. Poirier took the shots well this time round, it's very easy to forget the first fight was at featherweight and he was cutting so much weight, since he moved to lightweight he's looked like a different human. He takes shots much better now, this is his weight. His jab is really nice, but i think his best shot is the check right hook he throws, he caught Conor a couple times with it.
Also i know Dustin said his boxing is better than Holloways, i'm not so sure. Max is 100% a flyweight, even though he's relatively tall, he is wirey and he naturally doesn't seem to put weight on that well. In those fights, Dustin looked HUGE up against him and the big difference was that Dustin hurt Max a lot with his shots, whereas Max is more about volume.
No idea why he called out Nate, go for the trilogy and get some money. He got paid $750k as a starting point for this fight whereas Conor got $3.5m, that's a disgrace. But this time he's on the A side, Conor will want the rematch and will have to pay for it from his own share. If Khabib is truly retired, i wouldn't mind seeing a rematch vs Gaethje either.

Well, I've only just heard that Dan Hardy has been binned off by Dana White because Hardy has stated he wants to fight again.

Whilst I see the point of Hardy and knowing other analysts fight and commentate at the same time, he's also 38 (not in itself an issue) and has not fought in a professional capacity in 7-8 years.

Gonna miss his brilliant analysis pre-fight and post fight deconstruction.

Daaaayyuuuumm!!

3 years ago I said Francis Ngannou would learn from the loss to Stipe Miocic as he hadn't learned much in the fight game.

I can't see him being beaten for quite a while. Neither Derrick Lewis nor Jon Jones is beating this man.

It's wrap as long as Ngannou says it is.

Pretty good card for 261.

I hope Masvidal does it.

On a separate note, has anyone seen Tom Aspinall’s fights? A local lad making a good start to his UFC career. Looks impressive so far.

Daaaayyuuuumm!!

Did you see Chris Weidman's leg snap in half?!! Yo, the very first kick, the very FIRST action, Hall checks Weidman's low leg kick and SNAP!! And the he goes to step on the broken leg and folds!!

Oh my days!!

Anderson Silva must be thinking 'That's karma for you!'!

I think he made it even worse after when he tried to plant his foot on the mat with all his weight on it. There was blood and that's probably why the cameras didn't cut back to him until he was loaded up and ready to exit the cage via stretcher.

It's the way his foot literally wraps around Hall's shin and touches the back his knee in slo-mo, had me curling!

Fucking brutal wasn't it. Worst break - and aftermath of break - I've ever seen. Was going to eat a nice rhubarb yoghurt for the next fight, not that hungry anymore lol
