General UFC thread

Yeah I have it for Jones, just. Wouldn't be surprised at all if DC get's the win. I'm going to try my best to stay up and watch.

Prelims must start at 12am?
 
In my opinion it is a no brainer, Cormier wins 9/10 only way Jones can win this fight in my opinion is if he pulls some cheap shit which given his personality I would not put past him.

You think it will be that easy for DC? Think Jones will keep him at length so he can't wrestle and slam to the ground. I'm open to being wrong though.
 
Afraid I´m gonna fall asleep when the main events starts, here´s hoping Jones wins.
 
Cormier (as he said) has to close the distance with Jones and get in the wrestle. This is not going to be as easy as it sounds because Jones will be firing off leg kicks and jabs to keep him at bay. Jones is also freakish with the types of shots that he can unload. This is really going to test the chin of DC.

There is no way I would bet against Jones because of his unique abilities.

The bookies don't often get it wrong. They still have Jones as the favourite. I think there could be an upset in the co main event. I am tipping Myles Jury to beat Cowboy Cerrone.

Forgot about the co-main event. Going for Cerrone but wouldn't be surprised if Jury wins as he's that good.

Thought Cormier did well for the first 3 rounds. Managed to find his way inside on a fair few occasions. Rounds 4 and 5 were pretty shite from both fighters. Not that it had any affect on the result but will Jones ever have a fight that doesn't result in poking somebody in the eye?

Enjoyed the Cerrone fight, Burkman fight was alright and there was a couple of decent fights on the prelims. I've watched far worse cards. On to the Conor McGregor show in a couple of weeks time.
 
cornier 2 fat to fight, jones could of done better at the start imo.

Well, Jones never 'sucker punched' anyone. The shots he gave out were within the bell.

As for the fight? Well, it was the dogfight I expected. There was an adrenaline dump from both fighters as to why the fight slowed down. I thought it be close, but I expected Cormier to push harder, but all his confidence went from the failure to take Jones down to any great effect outside of the first four rounds. That becomes a mental block and he just started swinging in hope. All his game plan went kaput cos he expected to rag doll Jones, but what Jones is so brilliant at is being able to go within his opponents skill set and fight him at his own game.

I know everyone thought it was gonna be a slug fest, but I thought it was a great fight.

Pretty much this. I do find it funny though that Jones thinks this proves something to the wrestling world. Heck yeah you're a good mma wrestler and decent pure wrestler, but in a straight up wrestling match he would get destroyed. Bit strange cos he himself mentioned a while ago that this wasn't wrestling. He uses his reach and hips really well to avoid takedowns, so he's never really in a position to be taken down unless someone can drive through. Gus vs AJ will be interesting.
