General Videogame Thread

Absolute shite that Xbox X they didn't show a single must have game, Anthem looked good but not out until 2018 and I don't think it's an exclusive. Oh backwards compatibility with original Xbox or you can spend £10 and buy one on eBay. Sony must have been pissing themselves, also £499 are they having a laugh!! Looking at most reports it's seen as already a massive failure,Sony are on today and I expect them to raise the bar yet again, if and when the ps5 comes out I'm afraid Microsoft will be left in their wake. I'm not a fanboy in fact I used to play 360 before jumping to PS4 but the exclusives on PS4 are much better unless you want to play FORZA 55 and it shiny graphics !!

For someone whos not an avid gamer.
Would you say theres much difference between a ps4 and an xbox one s. Looking at getting an xbox as there have been heaps of sales recently where i live.

I have both. I say go with PS4 (unless all your mates have Box One and you want to play onlien with them or swap games).

The best games currently on the market a mostly on both consoles anyway. When it comes to exclusives (i.e. games that are exclusive to only one console and not the other) I'd say the PS4 has a far better range of games.

Put it this way: I have just two games on my X-Box (Halo 5 and Gears of War 4), and see only about three or four others that I'm interested in playing (Sunshine Overdrive, Crackdown 3, maybe a couple of indie titles. The vast majority of my game purchase have been for PS4. I still play my PS3 more than my Xbox One!

Cheers, may hold off then. I dare say there will be good prices on these 2 when the new model comes out later.

I'd say buy whatever your mates have if your playing online, if you don't have any go for PS4 (get the pro if you can afford it) ps has many more exclusives these days.

Ah the time of year when fanboys argue over who "won" E3 haha of course in their minds they are never fanboys.

I've grown out of gaming a long time ago in a lot of ways and don't take it too seriously but still like the odd game(hope VR takes off though). I've watched some of the Xbox One X conference, so Scorpio is not a full generational leap after all? Really good showing IMO(I like the Xbox and PC thing they are doing too, more sales can mean bigger budgets and better games for both platforms)... Forza Vs Gran Turismo is normally the benchmark test and it's clear Forza has an advantage(those backdrops, the effects, the lighting all in 4k at 60fps). Games were a mix(44 in total shown apparently the most anyone's ever shown) of first party Exclusives, AAA multi platform and a nice selection of indie games(they griped when they didn't show any in the past and gripe when they do). Highlights for me: Froza, Metro(really liked the original), Sea of Thieves(looks a lot of fun), State of Emergency 2(should be brilliant) and Super Lucky's Tale looked alright(not really into platformers but it looks as good as any I've seen).

I actually think these mid generational upgrades go against what consoles should be but it aint half funny seeing the reactions now the Xbox will have the most powerful console for a while. I liked that it immediately took away alot of the fanboy gripes from the outset, smallest console, liquid cooling(quiet) and most advanced power gating(power efficiency) seen in a console. I also like that even if you don't have a 4K display you'll get extra effects, super-sampling aa and what not as standard so you still benefit from the extra power either way. I think it's smart they haven't done their own VR headset or committed to anything yet but gone with "VR Ready", seems like a wait and see approach, I expect they could add support for Oculus or Vive if they don't think it's worth investing in their own.

Maybe that's the way things are going, it's good that which ever version of Xbox One you have you will still be able to play every game too, they've actually thought a lot about this one for those who know what they are looking for. Seems to me rather than a brand new generation that this is a premium Xbox One aimed at the hardcore market who don't mind paying for that premium if they get the best experience.
