Can anyone recommend any decent exclusives for XBox One (i.e. not available for PS4)? I figured I should probably start getting some use out of it before it gets too dusty.

I already have Halo 5 and Gears of War 4, but what others are there that are any good? I have Cuphead, Ori and Sunset Overdrive on my list (and Crackdown 3 next year) but that seems to be it.

Rise of The Tomb Raider is great, it was a timed exclusive. Shadow of Mordor is great and would be cheap to pick up now.

Both also on PS4, alas. Sorry if I wasn't clear; by 'console exclusives' I meant XBox One being the only console the games are available for (as some, such as Cuphead, are also PC. I'll reword the original post.

PUBG in December.

I like the puzzles, temples aspect of games. Loved Rise of the Tomb Raider temples on my Xb1 but there weren't enough. I'm tempted to buy a switch for Zelda and the new Mario. Not bothered about all this 4k stuff, I just want good addictive and challenging gameplay.

Is there plenty of temples puzzles in Zelda ? Also are the framerate issues when playing on TV as bad as I read ?

As posted I haven’t actually got a Switch yet (in the middle of getting ready to move) on my wiiU it is fine with the various updates. I can’t say I even noticed any prior to the updates though. I too aren’t bothered about 60fps blah blah. It’s a game not a film. I’ve played Zelda and Mario briefly on a mates switch and found them to be great if you’re a fan of the franchises. The puzzles in the temples are innovative, however they’re not like previous temples/dungeons in Zelda games, some of them are just one puzzle and the temple is completed, some are multiple rooms/puzzles which get harder as you progress through the game. If you like previous Zelda games this will satisfy @twosips is a Zelda/Nintendo fan of many years and an owner of a Switch he may know more about the frame rate drop out but I haven’t seen any myself.

I didn't notice anything game-breaking at all with framerate stuff. Think I saw it a couple of times but I grew up in an n64 era where games often dropped to 20fps, so it really doesn't bother me if a game stutters for 3 seconds and is then back to normal. It happened so rarely that I barely even noticed it.

I personally found the puzzle elements really satisfying. I LOVED the open world of BOTW. I know someone up there ^ said it felt empty, but adversely I thought the open space lent great dynamics to the game. It's the whole loud/quiet thing you find in music. The quietness only makes the LOUD even more immersive. I found myself wondering around BOTW peacefully for ages, dicking around, climbing stuff and then I'd stumble onto some random NPC who'd have a quest to look for a giant horse or some other weird shit like a haunted shop or whatever. I loved it.

I also really enjoyed the mini puzzles of the temples. All 120 of them were fun and the divine beast temples all felt like really clever lateral thinking puzzles. Given the way most play hte game, on the go, a series of short sharp puzzles felt so much more satisfying. I found myself playing the game in two ways:

1) on the go where I'd have a 40 minute bus journey, I'd attempt a shrine or a small side quest or two. Or just poke about a previously discovered town for side quests and NPCs

2) at home id have it on the big screen and attempt something a little meatier, like a divine beast or discover a new town.

I sometimes did 2 during scenario 1 as well.

It's a genuinely fantastic game that suits just about any playing style and has something for everyone. Was gutted to finish it.

Thinking of selling my switch. New Zelda was okay but it's too similar to modern formula of climbing stuff etc. It's behind Majoras Mask, OOT and Twilight princess for me.

So strange how people's perceptions differ isn't it. Personally haven't ever played a game that dealt with verticality in such a way that it felt crucial. Defo never played a game where you could climb *anything* before.
