General Videogame Thread

Really enjoying Elite Dangerous on the PS4 so far. Really hard work at first but love the trading/missions and building up credits to improve my ship. Exploring new systems is so much better than No Mans Sky was, no comparison so far between the games.
Same here; and I'm kind of relieved, given how long I'd been waiting for a PS4 release.

The learning curve is very steep and often there's almost no instruction on what to do or how to do something, but gradually it comes together and all starts to make sense.

Also, playing with a Thrustmaster Hotas makes all the difference.

I like the fact it's hard at first. Lack of instructions, guidance etc means it's just get on with it and learn. Getting ready to buy my first new ship now.

Got about 300k credits, nobloody clue yet what to go for. Any suggestions?
From what I've read, the Cobra is a good option early on - great all-rounder with good modifications available.

I've also read that it's best to save up three times the cost of the ship you are buying (so if a ship is 1m, save 3m); this enables you to buy the ship, all the best mods and then have money left over in the bank as your ship insurance. Of course, you could just buy the ship as soon as you can afford it but I imagine it would be gut-wrenching to then get shot to pieces without insurance! They say to never leave a port without enough money to cover the cost of a ship loss (which in the beginning with the Sidewinder isn't an issue).

You don't. Really you don't. It eats into your life. It's tense. It's annoying. It crashes. And if you land miles from the circle it turns into a lovely field running sim.
Haha. I can't wait until it's ironed out properly and comes to the consoles. When it comes to the Xbox first I may just buy one for that game alone.

+1

Also nothing worse than playing squad mode with players who know each other, as they'll let you run around for 10 minutes collecting decent stuff, then kill you to nick it off you.

I've learnt the hard way that if no-one in your squad is talking on voice comms (usually cos they are talking between themselves on discord or similiar), or any of them start paying special attention to what stuff you are carrying or following you a bit too closely, then i just go off and do my own thing (or shoot them before they shoot you) :)

I always play with mates so we usually work as a team. Not played anything else other than the 4 player mode. We use discord.

If anyone is having trouble getting a chicken dinner switch to the Asian servers. A lot easier.

Final Fanatsy XII: Zodiac Age is out tomorrow.... it's the remastered version of the 2006 game.

Got it coming from Amazon and I'm looking forward to playing it as I never got the chance to play a lot of it 11 years ago, as my PS2 died not long after I got it.
