General Videogame Thread

If you want FPS multiplayer then head over to BF V. It's rather good. Ignore the beta.

Cod over the new battlefield all day long for me, I couldn't see a huge difference from the last release, I'm hearing a lot about the mechanics not being spot on as well and I'm also seeing a lot of disappointed people saying most of the problems and glitches from the beta are still in the full release. I'm enjoying playing COD Blackops as a game as its offering me a lot more as well, a few years ago I would be playing both but I had to make a choice this time around.

That will be your age then.

COD is usually for the console kiddies and the part time FPSer.

Battlefield is where the real men hang out.

My age lol I'm 35 ffs.

You can defend Battlefield all you like but it still has all the problems it has.

As for real men playing Battlefield give over, there's plenty of FPS that put it to shame on console and PC.

Do you play Pubg?

Yes it is shite, the game died when it created small maps and small teams, no battleground copy is going to make up for that.

This Could be argued back and forth as it’s a matter of opinions! So tell me what your choice of shooter game is then? I can’t think of many if any FPS games where you have big maps and big teams nowadays.

Battlefield is perfect for my FPS needs, your style of play is catered to fully. Can be a run and gun a sniper a medic a tanky or pilot it is brilliant.

Anyone tried Fallout 76?

Yes mate put about 15 hours into it alone yesterday lol. It's basically Fallout 4 but multiplayer and the map is absolutely huge. Things to do everywhere from missions, events, side quests to even taking over bases to farm high level materials which other players can try to take off u.

So far I'm enjoying it and will be putting more hours into it today.

I’ve played every battlefield release to date, the beta for the new one was piss poor hence me not jumping on it this time around. Run and gun Cod wins, vehicle use/warfare Battlefield wins, long distance battles Battlefield wins, weapon customisation cod wins. I prefer the 1v1 style in cod if I’m being honest and as I said earlier it’s a matter of opinions. If I want big maps in first person mode I jump onto Pubg. How are you finding the campaign mode on Battlefield?

I'm on PC not bought it yet played the Beta enjoyed it, always loved Battlefield campaigns and COD campaigns, I was playing COD2 for hours a day years ago, shame how much it has changed.

Yup. And deleted it recently. The game started out as a great idea but once the cheaters took over and the developers deciding to be not bothered with the fan base, "we have our cash, leg it", it's got worse. I'm lucky I've got quite a few friends that I have been gaming with for years to play with as I'd hate to play Pubg if I was on my own.

Same goes for COD.

I've played, and been in clans that have played, games since around 1999. Team Fortress was our original game of choice until 1942 came along. Since then we've played most online games and COD hardly ever features. Sure we try them out but it seems they aim it at the casual gamer. I wanted to like the new one but it's decidedly average. The Battle Royale started out as a bit of fun, pubg is more anal/ realistic, but there's nothing to keep you playing it. A few blasts and onto something else.

Battlefield will be releasing it's own Battle Royale in the new year and a co-op addition as well. We are more excited by the co-op than the BR. And yes, you are right, BFV has a few issues, the ragdoll physics are mad and need sorting, but it's far better than the decidedly average beta they put out. Far better.

I'd still suggest, if you have no mates to play with, sticking to COD though as BF V is quite hard unless everyone in your team works together.

The latest Pubg update has really improved the desync and its seems they're still pushing updates. I play Pubg in Solo/Duos and Squads and have no problem playing it by myself, If anything it's easier in Solo mode.

The Battlefield BR looks like it is going to be rubbish from what I've seen, 4 teams of 16 players with objectives to win and multiple vehicles per team in it does not sound like a very well thought through idea.

I'll eventually get around to jumping on Battlefield when I've seen improvements on the issues I initially saw as I've always been a fan as I've stated previously,Do you have Any idea at what the tick rate is on the Battlefield servers?

I usually use discord to find decent players to play with if my friends aren't about and I want to squad up.

One last question..............Maverick Proving Grounds? Have you seen or heard of this game?Any thoughts on it.

Oh...30 for console, 60 for PC. Tick rate. And I think you'll find that squads are set to 4, as usual, and you can ignore all/ any of the objectives and set your own as per normal as well. The usual gubbins.

Looking back at my gaming years I would say I've had more fun with 1942/ Vietnam than with any game since.
BF2 for me all the way. But still enjoy BF4, BF1 and have just downloaded BF V so looking forward to that when I get some time to play it.
Can understand why people were not so enamoured by the beta but think the same can be said for most other BF betas.
