General Videogame Thread

What's everyone's favorite this year then?

Its been in early access for a couple of years but for me its Slay The Spire.

Not only is it the best Deck Building game its also the best Rougelike game.

Every run is different and unique and even after putting in over 400!! hours into it I'm still finding new ways to beat the bosses and getting cards to synergize with each other. Its that good is now in my top 5 favorite games of all time

I'm struggling to stick to just one game and it doesn't help that most reviews I watch of games make them look really good but ultimately feel like third party sales pitches.

With that said I have been playing Genshin Impact. Not really into anime but thought i'd give it a go to see what the fuss is about.

I have spent a lot of hours on different games this year so would probably struggle to pick a favourite. In terms of most played it would be Dying Light/Lord of the Rings Online. Even played Skyrim again for a bit earlier in the year.

Pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077, first time i've ever pre-ordered.. Just went off how good the witcher 3 is

It looks superb and a massive game in terms of map size and content (missions etc). The customization looks like it goes in to such thorough detail.

Apparently the map isn't that big but if offers verticallity and density unparalleled in a open world game.

Also though thoug it's first person it's definitely not shooter focus and extremely RPG heavy and apart from 3 or 4 missions you can go though the game without killing a single person providing you take the hacker path.

Can't believe this time next week I'll actually be playing it. Been waiting for this for nearly 5 years

I'm a massive Witcher fan, but sci fi and steam punk do absolutely nothing for me, so Im not sure if I'll go for Cyber-punk, no matter how technically good it is. I'll have to give it a go, but it's a world that really doesn't interest me unfortunately.

It’s a wait until sub £30 for me. Want to support CDPR because like you say, The Witcher is something else.

is it available on PS?

As far as I'm aware this is what the game is releasing on.

-PlayStation 4 (With improvements for PS4 Pro/PS5 and next year a proper PS5 upgrade.)
-Xbox One (With improvements for One X/Series S/Series X and next year a proper Series X upgrade)
-PC
-Stadia

Skyrim is the best game I have ever played, but for some reason I just couldnt get into Witcher 3. So a bit unsure about Cyberpunk, Il wait for reviews and what you chaps think of it.

For a game that has been delayed, checked for bugs, delayed, checked for bugs again, delayed etc etc quite why anyone is buying it on release day is beyond me.

It will be bugged to hell and patches will be very slow in coming out.

On the plus side I am looking forward to it. Loved Witcher, think Skyrim is a work of genius which I still play. If its as good then I'll be happy.

But I'm just going to wait for a) reviews and b) patches.

CDPR have already confirmed there's a day one patch

Edit In fact people who have already got a copy have confirmed it's been patched twice already

On the contrary, it's less likely to be all those things given that they kept delaying it to make sure it was as finely tuned as possible. There's no way CDPR would release a broken game.

don't want to piss on any ones chips but i think cyberpunk will be the biggest let down since no mans sky, yes the cinematics
look great but the actual very little gameplay they have shown look very ordinary

True. At least they made no man's sky pretty fucking decent eventually. Mr Murray has learned a lot from that.

So 2 patches already? Bodes well when it gets release...
One is a small patch for accessibility and optimization. The second one is for bug fixes.

Don't forgot the game went gold in mid octiso digital copies have been printed since then so I would imagine CDPR have been still working on the game for the last 2 months so a day one patch was expected.

To be fair to CDPR they are one of the few developers/publisher who listen to the fans.

The Witcher 3 was pretty buggy when it was released they were really quick to fix it
