General Videogame Thread

Unfortunately I don't have VR yet! Even without VR the graphics are amazing from what I've seen on youtube walktrhoughs.

I am still slowly progressing through Final Fantasy 15 whilst being addicted to Battlefield 1, routinely getting my Fifa fix and enjoying sessions on steep!
Gotcha, yeah i must say those occulus rift things look badass, so does Sony but that does not concern us with pc's. I have watched the video's of blokes prepared for it but still when the headset goes on they instantly start screaming or ducking, it looks a hell of a lot of fun i must say. I would happily run a game server a bit for online games if a few bought this, it is the kind of tech Back To The Future promised us isn't it and i can't lie that makes me giddy, now where is my hoverboard.

Had a play around with a few on Saturday and the PS4 version is an excellent piece of kit. Very surprised.

Yup, I've heard very good things about the quality of headset and the price is reasonable compared to oculus. There's not enough games out yet which are vr compatible to entice me in to getting one but I'm sure developers are working away!

CPY-PES2017 with PTE4.0 Patch, data packs 1 and 2, Stadium pack(includes updated lighting, the Etihad, City name and badge along with the other Prem Teams... Oh and the score, timer, replay graphics etc can be changed to the new PL branding too) is quite enjoyable.

Make sure you follow the guide for the CPY version, needs some extra downloading to get it to work(different exe and what not) but it's doable. :)

The only thing missing now is Gabriel Jesus who will probably be coming in the next official data pack(3).

I did a speed run beginning of the year! I can't believe how poorly all 3 games have aged, the dialogue is some of the worse I've ever seen in games in the last 10 years! And they haven't aged well at all either! I'm worried how very little we've been told about ME:4, I can see EA trying to get their grubby hands all over it, like they did with ME:3

Well ME1 is clunky as hell mechanically, but ME2 is a masterpiece. Everything about it was amazing. I had to replay it twice because the first time I hadn't enhanced the ship and my team got slaughtered just getting to the suicide mission.

ME3 was good but mechanics were a little too loose and I'd have preferred having more of the crew onboard rather than just jumping in and out.

For Andromeda, I'm giddy at seeing it in 4K...but..the consoles aren't ready. I've a 4K tv and wish the game wasn't coming out until the scorpio launches.

These are here to stay you reckon if they can refine the game interaction. I mean not just another fad like current 3d tech in tv's.
I'd be surprised, it's a lot more effort than average gaming. I'd compare it more to the Wii than 3D, great fun for a bit or especially with friends or even non-gamers, but to heavy duty gamers it's a hell of an effort to wear a VR headset and move around. It's a lot more interesting than the Wii, but I think the same problems will occur

Not got vr but the game gets your heart pounding alright. Had a hour or two on it last night while the Mrs was out with the kids. Thought I'd cheated on her when she came back going off my numb expressionless face. Great game!

So after a few days playing and probably around half way through I've got to say it's the most fascinating thing I've ever played RE7 in VR is absolutely brilliant mate. It's actually like you're in a horror movie it's creepy as hell. 10/10 mate probably already win Game of 2017 the characters are superb.

Cheers @BigOscar. I did think that a bit but hoped i was wrong. I like to think it will find a spot and stick around as it feels progressive tech wise and that is always cool :-)

Exact feeling I had, the game affected my mental state which is always the sign of a good game. Haven't had chance to play again with the boy deciding he doesnt need to sleep and there's no chance I can have it on with him in the room, he'll not sleep for a month.

To be fair, comparing it to the Wii isn't an insult, the Wii did remarkably well. I think VR could be huge for a while and could have an impact beyond gaming, I just don't think it will take over the way all games are played as it's a bit like hard work compared to sitting on your sofa and putting in a good few hours to unwind. I think a large amount of hardcore gamers are pretty fucking lazy, myself definitely included!

Maybe it will go a bit like 'Gamer' if you remember the lads room, some sort of super immersive screen. Maybe a semi sphere projection screen or tent of sorts. I get the tech for that is a bit of but i learned never to say never with tech a long time ago.

3d tech in tv's was ok, I have an LG one myself, it was just too expensive for the manufacturers. With a decent surround system and a 3d tv movies are quite good at home. The trouble is, most movies had the 3d bits tagged in at the end, a leaf blowing in a breeze, an arrow coming at you, stuff that had been done when jaws 3d came out all those years ago.

Yeah ME1 just feels unplayable or barely just these day's, but I remember liking it enough to invest in ME2 so at the time ME1 must have ticked all the boxes!

ME2 was better polished but I still think somethings we're clunky, on the PC version you have to go into the pause menu to look at your codex or journal, whereas in ME1 you could hotkey each individual piece of resource (inventory, codex.... ect), it doesn't seem like a big deal but after a while it becomes increasingly frustrating and a needless piece of time consumption having to navigate through the menus all the time.

My biggest issue with ME3 was how incosistent the story fell towards the end, especially the original release that created such big backlash amongst the franchises' fan base that Bioware and EA felt the need to make a free DLC tying up loose ends, which proved that they literally treated it as a cash cow in the end and thought they could get away with lazy writing!

Only now what I've read so far on Andromeda that I'm starting to feel an increasingly large amount of doubt on how this game will pan out, I've even cancelled my pre-order and will wait for reviews.
One of the developer teams gave an interview to a podcast and explained they've been having technical issues with the game, but the podcast were told that the information was confidential and they weren't allowed to comment further on the issues on their podcast! What's s bad that they need to keep it from the general public, their customers?
I'm worried about how very little is being shown and how very little is being told, even the announcement was out of the blue, like there was no statements about a 4th being in the mix or currently being developed, and then at BAM! E3 comes along and Mass Effect 4 is like 9 months away from development!

Just bought Ark on the midweek steam sale for £7.50, played a lot of H1Z1 which is a similar sort of game, hopefully its fun

Did anyone try the for honor beta? Actually thought it was really good. Currently enjoying Gears 4 and The Witcher 3 atm. (Must be doing my sixth playthrough on TW3)

My favourite game. I've done two, can't bring myself to start again especially when it can take a couple of hours to get some armour. The whole game is magnificent though.

Had a chainsaw duel last night! That was an experience.
