General Videogame Thread

Got Conan Exiles on alpha last night, about 5-6 of us playing, decent enough, lots of crafting to learn and lots more promised to be added, it's a bit buggy but expected with it being in alpha, looks stunning though

Intrigued by this game. It promises so much. The early reviews are that it looks stunning but the crafting is a bit shit. Is this the case?
 
Lack of my kind of games out recently has put me in a throwback mood;

Played the Bioshock trilogy... All 3 are fantastic games

Dusted off heroes of might and magic 3 and had a blast on that(favourite game as a kid alongside streets of rage 2)

Played through Red Dead again last month(Is there a game scene more awesome than first riding your horse into Mexico?).

Bully popped up on my ready to install page(must have bought it on xbox 360 once upon a time) so have started playing that again too.


Is Resident Evil 7 worth a play without the VR and is it as short as i've heard it is?
Also, never played Mass Effect, worth a spin?

Yes, definitely.

A speed runner has done it in 90 mins but I think he used glitches.

I did it in 10 hours but I don't know if thats average or not. Its the downright creepiness of it, exploring for items etc and having to stop and think that slows you down really.
Its definitely got replay value though with unlockable items and there's a Madhouse mode as well. There's also a DLC out now and a second coming out very soon. Also a free DLC sometime in Spring.

I'm loving it though, much better than 5 and 6.

Not learned all the recipes yet, seems ok, they have promised to add loads more though

resident evil 7 is brilliant. its very much like the first one. similar puzzles and bad guys. not as hard though.

Well over priced and a poor version of ARK and Rust.

The fighting on it is pathetic.
 
Been on the last couple of hours. I'm on PS4 and first impressions are pretty good. Not tried multiplayer yet (don't know if it's even turned on) but single player is a good game. Story isn't the best but I can always forgive that if the game is any good.

Erm...As it's a beta but there are a few things amiss.

Get out of car. Your CPU mates get out. You get in a drive off. You can see them on the road. Go round a corner. They are back in the car.

Graphically good looking, go anywhere but usual issues with this on Unisoft. Jump over fence. Not that one though. It's got a leaf the other side.

Drive anywhere. Really. Get in a car and drive over that cliff. No biggie. Keep going.

Helicopters. Like GTA they keep appearing. As do enemies.

The handling of vehicles is awful. Especially bikes.

2 of my mates went in the front way while I calmly walked in the back door but couldn't release the hostage until the baddies had all been killed.

It's fucked my mic up on discord. No idea why but it did. And 2 of my mates.


That was from 1 hour this afternoon.


It's beta though.

It's released in a month though so most of what you list would probably still be in the final game. It's Ubisoft after all.

It is far superior to Ark and Rust, Ark is awful, Rust was quite fun back in the day but looking tired now so have to disagree with you, that said it does have its faults but its a week into Alpha, its what to expect.

Played a bit more this afternoon with 3 mates. Fuck me this game is shite. Driving mechanics are awful. It's a game designed so you can go anywhere and approach missions from any angle but where's the fun in that if getting there is annoying as fuck?

Timed missions? Get to the next radar in 1 minute...Go. Very poor design.

Other cars/ people. Thick as shite.

It plays like the bad bits from Just Cause 3's driving and Far Cry 4's guns.

You can't run over cows. You can shot them. No idea why.

In fact it is JC3 without the teather...i.e the fun bit.

You can't roll. Cover means crouching behind something, no hugging a wall and peaking out.

Won't be buying it.
