Bryan is popular because the WWE marketed him and booked him to appeal to the the smark crowd unlike Cena.

I mean, having Miz as his NXT pro? Losing every match early on and having Cole absolutely bury him? His entire Rumble booking in 2014?

It seems to be working aswell. Every wrestling forum in the world is now full of marks who cannot see purposeful booking in front of them
Even if this is worked (I'm not 100% his entire career has been), as you point out, it's been much more subtle with Bryan, carefully built, where you're given chance to get on his side. Good story telling is exactly that, where you feel as though you've become a Bryan fan on your own. Rather than the last two years of a returning wrestler cutting crap promo's, having poor chemistry with both the audience and their Wrestlemania opponent. The rushed rivalry between Reigns and Lesnar is gonna be torture with Lesnar (who just got up from anything thrown at him at the Rumble) staying down for a jumpy punch.

Even last years "original" plan had the whole Evolution rivalry thing to use. As far as I can remember, Lesnar and Reins have never had any kind of on screen interaction.
Is he meant to stay down from 50 painfully slow shins to the chest instead, is that more "believable"?
No. While I'll stick up for Bryan and I do believe he can wrestle, this isn't the fight for him either. I never expected or wanted him to win last night, but he should have got down to the final 6 as a minimum.

The fact is that due to poor long term planning by the WWE, there was no "right answer" to last night, because no-one has been given a natural push. I just hope they surprise us all by having something lined up for Reins. Maybe a heel turn aligning himself with Heyman, who turns on Brock at Mania, if Lesnar is on his way out.

Although Bryan has just come back surely they could have allowed him a bit longer air time rather than dumping him like that? Same for Ziggler, I have no idea what he's done to piss people off, but he's a class performer night after night and still doesn't get the breaks.

I can't see a coherent story line for Reigns though, they seem to have him randomly going round in circles looking for an opponent to beat up with his big punchy thing. He's not the worst performer by a long way but seems to have lost his way, much like Ambrose who I like a lot. It looks as though they have no ideas of what to do with them after The Shield.

The same goes for Wyatt. He, to me, is one of the future stars of the WWE, a great ring worker and persona and then they get the Bogeyman and try and get one to out weird the other. He lasted for ages and then...see ya.

Rusev hasn't panned out the way they wanted, you can see that, but to have him lying nearly under the ring for all that time (even the crowd were singing his name and I had forgotten about him, as it would appear did the announce table lot) before popping up and then falling out straight away shows they have no idea where he's going.

Rumble plus points were Kane getting the record all to himself, deserves it for the years he has put in, the title match and...erm...oh yes, Bubba.

2 Rumbles in a row and the fans have hated the winner. They have changed there mind in the past and went with the fans last year in getting Bryan into the main event. Saying that will they do the same again this year. Just look at this way. Cean not headlining a Wrestlemania is that not going happen?? Brock will loose if he hasnt resign if he has he will hold onto the title. Too early for Reigns is way too raw and early for him to win it.

Wrestlemania card.
Brock v Reigns
Cena v Rusev
Bryan v Wyatt again???
Orton v whoever.
HHH v Ziggler
Next title battle royal or something like that.

But knowing WWE they will make room for Stone Cold to waste 20 minutes and the Rock too. With Rock maybe wrestling to get in more PPV numbers. They need to build it on the young talent.

I think HHH and Sting is pretty nailed on

Has there ever been a more dominant WWE champion then Brock Lesnar? he's a machine.

WWE are lucky to have him. He deserves every dime he earns.

Then you get daniel bryan. Don't see what people see in him.

He's the talented underdog "held down" by the "forces that be". He appeals to the people who have no power in their lives and like to blame some big bad entity like their boss, their teacher or some facet of society.

He's essentially Stone Cold in a PG Era. This is a good summation of him:

If you look at the way the WWE has booked him over the last few years it really is a masterful example of properly handling someone to further their character.
