Gutted as I am like all fellow blues I am seeing a very worrying trend. Why is it that all other new managers are getting a reprieve from fans and pundits alike yet Pellerini gets all the flack? I mean he is a new manager, in a new league and we have one trophy SO FAR this season. Moyes and the rest are fine (even motor mouth Jose) and "should be given time". Yet we are supposed to win at least 3 trophies or we have failed?

Just a bit too much pressure I think and it needs a little perspective. Yes we have a great squad but it does take time and we have over achieved so far.

*awaits attacks*

It's just boring to be honest.

We win 5-0 every week and he's the best manager ever in the world bar none.

We lose or draw and he's a shit heel who should die so Mancini can save us.

It's the same for most of the players. World beaters when we're winning 7-0 but useless twats if we lose or draw. No middle ground. No perspective.

Tabloid thinking, as I've said, a lot of people have been programmed to see anything less than a quadruple as failure. On the other hand the rags beat West Brom and the world comes to a stand still and we're looking at the Busby Babes all over again. Tabloid programming of the populace.

I think the problem is he succeeded Mancini who was loved by 90% of the fan base for what he had achieved.
The media won't give any City manager a break regardless of who he is or what he does.

The media didn't give Mancini any recognition until he was sacked and he suddenly became the best manager ever and proof of our evil Muslim owners corrupt intentions.

Before we sacked him they treated him like shit and did their best to make him a comedy character, something he helped them with by being a bit too happy to play up to them.

The fans loved him, I loved him but the media thought he was shit. Until we let him go.

Anyone advocating sacking a manager a week after winning the league cup is talking crazy.

The only thing I don't understand is continuing with Demichelis when he's proving to be such a consistent liability. It doesn't matter if your supposedly better on the ball when your making the mistakes he's making, bizarre Pellegrini seems to press on regardless.

Manuel has never really had the full backing of the fans and his every mistake is picked at in huge detail.

He hasn't help himself though, with his team selections and his wearing of hoodies!

Oh and he replaced the manager that brought city it's first title in 44 years...

Good valid question. I think with the way Mancini was sacked, a lot of city fans were either bitter about it & will constantly compare the two when results dont go well. For me personally, I believe that our time with Mancini had possibly ran its course (he deserved one more year though) but the appointment of Pellegrini just didn't excite me. It felt temporary at the time and it still does, which feels very strange. He has got us playing some nice stuff which I have thoroughly enjoyed at times this season, but so did Mancini when we battered teams during the title winning season & a lot of people seem to forget that. I just get the impression amongst a lot of City fans that he isn't our Pep, Jose, Wenger, Ferguson etc.. And THAT is the kind of appointment we desired once they chose to get rid of Mancini.

I just feel like we're still in limbo in terms of having our very own Klopp. Maybe that's why a lot of blues (including myself) are not over the moon with him & were quick to criticise him.

Did you see Chelsea at home to Spurs. So ordinary, so boring.

We have Hart, Zab, Kompany, Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Aguero. All World Class or close to it. Should be delivering. The squad is mature, This was the season to deliver. Indeed so was last season

This team is better than Utd's Treble winning team, but we are not going to get the trophies in the cabinet to prove it. If we're not careful the core of the City team will be off in the Summer. Careers are short. Players of that calibre can't hang around and waste a season or two.

If Mourinho or a top class manager like Ancelotti was in charge at City we'd have the League Cup, and be on our way back to Wembley again, and we'd be going to Barcelona with a chance (as what manager would play Demichelis against Messi) and we'd probably be several points clear in the League.

How can we be behind Arsenal, and yet we are.

Pellegrinis 1st season in England , and he will learn from his mistakes , if we beat barca he will be nominated for a knighthood , if we lose , it will be taxi for pellegrini , no middle ground in our modern society.

Good post, the really sad thing is this entitlement some of our fans have that we should win every game. All last week its who do you want in the semi, we'll be another game behind Chelsea, have you booked your Wembley hotel etc etc, It does my head in. The OP questions the media, but personally I'd question a lot of our fans, some expect way way too much, and while I'm not happy tonight, maybe some should use today as a wake up call, and remember the odd day in our past that we did what Wigan did to a "bigger" club today, and say well done Wigan, and especially their very bright manager.

Have you forgot last week ? We delivered, the ONLY possible trophy we could have won so far this season, and we did. So we're now out of one of 4 we could have won, and its a disaster ?

Really its people like you that need a reality check.

This made me laugh for the first time today. I hate how results affect my moods now I won't sleep till very late.

To be fair I loved Mancini but think the team is more united now we have become spoilt like Cleavers said we cannot win them all. Also the players need to not do a Rooney and float on their natural ability alone. Only Silva, Milner, Nasri looked like they were really trying. Yes our players need to pull up their socks because that team besides one that shan't be mentioned we should have walked this fixture.

The press loved winding Bobby up and now they've got the knives out for Pellers cos he aint taking no shit from them.
Fans and pundits are just jumping on him now cos we were chasing 4 trophies with a very limited squad and this was highlighted today with the fatigue and nonchalence in the first half from the regulars and the appaling lack of form from the squad members.

Again our team underestimated wigan I doubt the manager did

What if we draw?

he will be put in the stocks in front of the etihad , we can take turns throwing rotten tomatoes , until he pleads forgiveness for his diabolical transgression , He will then be instructed to read the football managerial bible "the book of Moyes" , and will reluctantly proceed with the instructions within this book , until we reach the all time great achievement "championship football " Amen.
