My take on a few thinhs seeing as us lefties are apparently silent.
Black live matter that is a fact and black communties not just in the US but here, france, Italy and more globally suffer from institutuinal racism and bigotry, and yes racism exist is most communites who will have some in that community that harbour racial intollerance of others
However as most institutions are built and set up through centuries of western global colonisation and influence there is still racism and discrimination to ethnic minotrities deep within society either ditectly or indirectly.
And yes as a multicultural nation we have progressed well from the past, and a lot of racial tollerance and unity does exist, but when prominent racists like farage, johnson and and yaxley-lennon are considered as people with valid arguements and given platforms you also see where we have stepped back also.
Also for those saying what about white people oppressed it is true that until as recently as last century this instutuinal prejudice spanned into white and religious communities like the Irish, catholics, the working class poor who were considered second class or inferior.
But honestly as a white working class catholic of Irish decent I can walk down any street in this country and know I will not be stopped, searched or suspected of being a criminal, every member of the black community has that worry and for many it will have happened several times.
The only time I have been harassed by the police is as a football fan who are treated like criminals by the police, but even then colour of your skin doesn't come into it as football fans are considered as potential hooligans first and citizens second
On the protests they have to happen now as the subject would be marginanlidlsed once it dies down and again be forgotten until the next time.
The pandemic though is an issue and really I do think to social distance the protests need to be spread amongst the bouroughs not one centralised one in town as people form all over the region traveled in and so social distancing is imposible.
A protest in bury, bolton, oldham etc to keep numbers down but I doubt police and councils wouldn't allow it.
Om the horse incident the dick that threw the bicicyle is as much a dick as the geordie who punched a horse. But in the year 2020 why the fuck are we still using police horses inthe first place
