They should've just binned it for being utterly shit years ago.
Sorry, but my son has played with the Neville Staples band and is friends with him & it was taken down Monday night
I feel exactly the same. They put up statues of people who made a fortune from human misery, they make privileged people lords. Knighthoods to people for doing a job, I/we don't have any say, so I couldn't give a fuck about statues. Pull em all down for me, I really don't care.Statues are like knighthoods, given by the privileged to the privileged, often using public funds without public consultation. Don't care if they stay or go to be honest.
Agreed. And while we are at it...
Alton Towers was built on slave money, compensation paid out to slave owners when slavery was abolished.
Burn it down.

In facebooks defence, the youth of the UK, me included, have been confused with the melding of skinhead/Ska/NF/reggae symbolism for decades.

Starting to get worried about Family Guy now.One or two sketches are funny but it’s not exactly Phoenix Nights.
The majority of the racist parts are taking the piss out of the ignorance of racists, rather than the victim.
It’s like Al Murray’s act, it’s taking the piss out of a little Englander landlord character.
Comedy often brings different groups together.

I didn't say keeping or erecting statues. I said study what went on and learn from it don't airbrush if out because you are offended. It still happened so take lessons from history for the sake of a better futureSo you'd be okay with statues of Hitler in Germany, so we could study them ?
more question marks needed ??So showing anger at history that helped get us where we are today is futile. Celebrating those who were leaders in the fight against injustice is futile. Does that mean by extension that the protests themselves are futile, and maybe even abolishing slavery is futile, since neither of those things have eradicated "racism and racist acts" and only made racists angrier? What solutions do you propose? Or should we just ignore all this and move on assuming time will heal all wounds?
??Exactamundo
South Park wouldn't care.South Park has no chance.
Frank Sidebottom in TimperleyThere are hundreds of statues dedicated to non privileged people/ things.
Greyfriars Bobby in Edinburgh?
Titanic memorial in Belfast?
Robin Hood in Nottingham?
Mary Seacole in London?
You seemed to be agreeing with bimbo about pulling a statue down.I didn't say keeping or erecting statues. I said study what went on and learn from it don't airbrush if out because you are offended. It still happened so take lessons from history for the sake of a better future
