George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

The reality of policing in the US

That haunting scream is why a Jacob Blake doesn't get to do whatever it is he was doing leaning/getting into the car, and it's why Police need more funding, not less. For one thing they should all be given Martial Arts training so that they're more equipped to deal with someone physically when the taser and spray fail (which they do far too often) and scum like the little prick in the video can't wriggle his way to a weapon

The video should also highlight how US police can't really afford to think "he's not being aggressive, if anything he comes across as a bit of a crybaby" - anyone can turn into a coldblooded killer in a heartbeat

'unashamed racist who profited from the slave trade'
Didn't think that would bother you much
Why should it bother her. That someone who lived in the 18th century had terrible views on race.

Had he not had the views he had, that would have been what was unusual.

It says a lot, that there are many amongst us who are so comfortable to judge those from the past by today's standard. How sad.

Let's hope you are all animal loving vegans, as in 100 years when everyone who lives then have come to agree that it's barbaric to eat other animals. What are we to say about those who eat it now? Or have animal farms? What are we to say about those who shop at grocery stores who sell meat? Or those who invest in fast food markets? What are we to do or say of these future barbarians.

Are you sure you won't be the Racist of tommorow? Common sense suggest we'll eventually all be. Let's hope those who live 100 years from today would, unlike many today, have the common decency to not judge us by the standard of their time.

This is why sports stars, dancers etc need to stop what they are doing. All body cams and mobile phones have done in these scenarios is show what police deal with constantly. For most normal law abiding people there is no concept of dealing with lying, drug taking, know my rights low lifes. The message from those in the public eye should be stop committing crime, stop putting shit in your body, actually work hard, and contribute to society and above all do as you are told when you encounter the police. That leads to change not justifying living as a criminal and having to face no consequences for your actions or take responsibility for your life choices.

Why would funding the police more in this case help? They had guns, they had tazers, they probably just didn't expect the guy to pull a gun on them as they lost control of the situation.

Yes the guy is a criminal, a murderer, everything, but this situation escalates into something it shouldn't of been because of adrenaline and because guns and tazers etc quickly become involved.

There's a reason this only happens in the US and it has nothing to do with the type of criminal, lack of police funding or anything else. It's because America normalises and facilitates violence by the legalisation of lethal weapons. In Tulsa you don't even need a permit to carry a gun in public.

In the UK the police would of had nothing more than a notebook and a tazer (if they are lucky), the guy in the car however would of had nothing but a few strong words.

It's shocking but it's normal in the US and it will carry on because the right to carry a gun is more important than the right to live.

More and more criminals in the UK carry weapons in cars-knives, machetes, batons.

They aren't legal though, that's the distinction.

More police officers died performing their duty in that video in 10 minutes than have died in a whole year in the UK.

No police officer has died in the UK from a weapon attack for several years.

I gave a reason why more funding would help in this instance.

Complaining about the 2A is just a waste of time. Have to deal with reality as it is.
