Having a laugh about Gerry always cheers me up. What do you remember about the tubby taxi-driver? I remember his nice headed goal and over-exuberant celebration late in a total battering at St James Park; him trying a shot from the halfway line against Chelsea, and just looking so off the pace it was as if I was turning out for City.

Scoring a free kick at home to Charlton(?), can't recall if it was a winner or equaliser but it was a sweet strike at the North stand end.

Heading the winner at Elland Rd in Alan Ball's season.

Last minute winner v Charlton, great goal TBF!

That was my only memory of him. A pointless transfer and stupid move to swap him for Paul Walsh.

The Elland Road winner is all I remember of him contributing anything. It was quite foggy that day I think?

I was in the old Maine Road Souvenir Shop, when Gerry came in and was buying some kid's city shirts etc.

The lady in there, Stan Gibsons daughter, tried to strike up a conversation with him. His response consisted of f*uck or f*ucking every other word. Not in a nasty way, just in a typical Glaswegian way

She was left gobsmacked!!

Great goal against charlton, he had a kick like a mule the only problem was he was completely static even when running

doubt anyone will know what i'm talking about but my main memory of gerry creaney is him being an absolute beast on the ps1 'player manager' game. Put a 3-5-2 formation on, creaney as number 9, and he'd bag around 50-60 goals a season (for some reason there were 16 teams in each league on the game: only 30 games a season.

either the game creator was high or it was creaneys brother.

Gerry Creaney was a good example of a wasted career.

He looked useful with Celtic and with Portsmouth and scored plenty of goals. He came to City and was clearly out of his depth.

However he chose to remain at City and collect his overblown wages rather than move back to Scotland and try and restart his career.

By the time his contract was running down and he was prepared to move he had become a tub of lard that was no use to anyone.

I saw him in a pre-season bounce match when he was looking to get a contract with Hibs and he was nowhere near up standard by then. He ended up with St Mirren in the Scottish First Division and managed 12 matches before moving onwards and downwards to Notts County, Raith Rovers, Queen of the South and Clydebank. He quit at the age of 30.
