Hell... needs me
Yo yo yo,

I'm after getting a PC built instead of buying one manufactured by one of the big boys, but haven't looked into it as of yet. Anyone got this done before that can advise of a good place to go (Bowlers?) and what sort of price I'm looking at for a decent PC?

I'm just after something that would be able to cope with 20MB broadband speed and with good graphics. Fast processor speed is obviously a requirement as is a decent size RAM. I aint bought a PC for a while and I'm a bit out of touch as to what RAM and processors are available.

Thanks in advance.

Aria are good but why not buy the parts and build it yourself? It's a lot simpler than you might think and you get more for your money. The only fiddly bits are connecting the leads for all the front panel lights and buttons to the motherboard and fitting the back plate on the case, where all the connections are. The rest is really straightforward. I'm not really a techy but have built both my kids pc's.

A reasonable motherboard, AMD dual core processor and 2gb of RAM will come to about £100. 320gb Hard disk £50, dvd drive £30ish, graphics card £50 and case about £30. Power supply £20. You just need a screwdriver and anti-static mat.

I used to build my own, then I found it was actually cheaper for Aria to build it when using like for like components.
Also as a novice its ok building your own until you hit a problem.

For the time and effort involved especially if you have never built a PC before. I work in IT and wouldnt even bother building my own any more would go somewhere like Aria.

I tend to buy them from Aria of PCSpecialist, being able to build your own is useful though when you want to upgrade or swap components in a PC you already have so it's worth learning.

Yeah I'm toying with the idea of building my own, PB. I'm presently loking at where the best deals are on motheboards, processor, RAM and all that but I'm going to see what price range I'm looking at for someone else to build it too. Covering all bases. But reading Kileen's ppost, maybe teh latter option is going to be the final decision.

The websites provided are really useful though.

Again, a big thanks to everyone's input. You can always count on a blue!
