It's actually a pleasure again going to watch City, after a couple of seasons of hard work and worrying about whether the usual capitulation was coming or not. Under Manuel (this is by no means meant to disrespect Pellegrini btw), if we conceded early, we'd flap and go on to concede more (Leicester, Liverpool, Spurs away etc), and personally I'd be going into every game with doubts at the back of my mind, regardless of the opposition.
But this season, I'm going into every game with so much confidence (not to be confused with Raggy arrogance and expectancy), and sat there watching the games I can't help but have a massive grin on my face watching the football we're playing. It's refreshing to see, largely the same players as last season, busting a gut to win the ball back, throwing themselves in front of shots, and it really is a pleasure to see some hard work and effort that's been lacking.
And then last night, it was the very first time that we've truly dominated a game of football against decent opposition in Europe. We've had games in Sevilla and Kiev that were brilliant, but not as in control as we were last night. BMG were puppets and we were the masters, pulling them all over the pitch and they were completely overwhelmed by us. They had no idea how to deal with us, and then when it came to attacking us they also had no options. It was a complete performance all over the pitch last night.
I can't believe how much of an impact Pep has had, on individuals like Kolarov and Navas, but mainly the whole team is flowing with confidence and belief and desire, and it really is heart warming as a fan. I was so proud watching the team last night. The scary thing is, that Pep expects us to improve! I feel sorry for whoever plays us when we're ready, because they'll be in for a shock.
It's City, so I never get too carried away, but it's so hard not to when we're being blessed with some of the best performances we've ever seen from our club. It's amazing to read the positivity on here and how much everyone is loving being a part of this, and it's hilarious to read the absolute abuse the club is taking in the media - Aguero's "elbow" on Reid was "brutal" according to the FA - whether you believe he was guilty of violent conduct or not, it was far from brutal.
After this thread,we'll probably lose to Bournemouth and it will be meltdown again ;) but seriously, what a time to be a blue, and I question any City fan who isn't getting giddy at the thought of what's possible in the next 3 years.
