Getting giddy

No they aren't. Gross overrating of the premier league again.
No I say they would struggle to get top eight. But the main point I want to make is that there are indications that some of us are starting to get carried away way too early. They don't hand out cups in September. I have said on a number of occasions that December and January will be our acid test on the domestic scene and after the 2 games against Barcelona we will get a better idea of whether we have progressed in terms of Europe. We have yet to see how this Pep side will react to adversity which is crucial in determining if a good side can be termed great. We also have no idea if injuries to key players will once again prove decisive although we do seem to be better placed to deal with such circumstances than in recent seasons. Certainly we should start to feel a tingle of excitement but I would wait to April before we get giddy!!!

Pep will make sure the players know they have nothing to fear when we play Barca and for once I won't be watching that match from behind the sofa.
I really think we will be right up there with them this time.
Giddy days indeed!!

Personally, this is gelling into the most formidable team I've ever seen since starting out watching City in the early 70's!
It's been worth the wait to get this genius of a coach as our leader and he's only just started to weave his magic!
I love the fact that none of our players now are mavericks and everyone pulls in unison for the cause just like an orchestra with Guardiola
conducting from the sidelines!
The squad is so strong with players being reinvented and enthused. What an awesome experience it must be for them (as well as us) turning up
for training and being shown new systems, tactics, formations etc. Mind blowing!
Everyone looks happy too! Just a great time to be a Blue!

When we got off to that flyer under Mancini, a rag (decent one as it happens) said to me it's all about how you handle the wobble as every team has one during a season
I just think that Guardiola is so meticulous in his preparation for each and every game that we may have a freak result when we simply cannot score in a match no matter how many chances we create, but I don't see us having "a wobble"
We say that Christmas with games coming thick and fast will be hard, but it's the same for our opposition with much weaker squads
You never know, we may already have beaten them in the mind before we play, so their manager fields a weakened team against us to rest his better players for the next winnable game

The Barca games could provide a reality check. Their front 3 are a scary proposition.
They are pretty amazing but they were given so much space by Celtic that (I hope) we should deal with better. The thing I will say about them though is the clinical nature of their finishing when they get a chance/half chance. If you look at the chances we created last night and didn't score, I think thats still the big difference between the two teams.

Basing on the games we had, it is still uncertain if we are quite below Barca, but what I like is that we can certainly punch above our weight and give it a good go. We look the part now. The game against Barca will be a test of where we are at.

The Barca game will be a great test. If we get beat it's fine, but what i want to see is us looking competitive to be able to stand toe-to-toe with them, to try and force our game onto them and not play the underdogs hoping to scrape a draw. I don't expect to come out on top right now, they're the very best but if we can see the progress and the potential to compete in the latter rounds i'll be happy

It's actually a pleasure again going to watch City, after a couple of seasons of hard work and worrying about whether the usual capitulation was coming or not. Under Manuel (this is by no means meant to disrespect Pellegrini btw), if we conceded early, we'd flap and go on to concede more (Leicester, Liverpool, Spurs away etc), and personally I'd be going into every game with doubts at the back of my mind, regardless of the opposition.

But this season, I'm going into every game with so much confidence (not to be confused with Raggy arrogance and expectancy), and sat there watching the games I can't help but have a massive grin on my face watching the football we're playing. It's refreshing to see, largely the same players as last season, busting a gut to win the ball back, throwing themselves in front of shots, and it really is a pleasure to see some hard work and effort that's been lacking.

And then last night, it was the very first time that we've truly dominated a game of football against decent opposition in Europe. We've had games in Sevilla and Kiev that were brilliant, but not as in control as we were last night. BMG were puppets and we were the masters, pulling them all over the pitch and they were completely overwhelmed by us. They had no idea how to deal with us, and then when it came to attacking us they also had no options. It was a complete performance all over the pitch last night.

I can't believe how much of an impact Pep has had, on individuals like Kolarov and Navas, but mainly the whole team is flowing with confidence and belief and desire, and it really is heart warming as a fan. I was so proud watching the team last night. The scary thing is, that Pep expects us to improve! I feel sorry for whoever plays us when we're ready, because they'll be in for a shock.

It's City, so I never get too carried away, but it's so hard not to when we're being blessed with some of the best performances we've ever seen from our club. It's amazing to read the positivity on here and how much everyone is loving being a part of this, and it's hilarious to read the absolute abuse the club is taking in the media - Aguero's "elbow" on Reid was "brutal" according to the FA - whether you believe he was guilty of violent conduct or not, it was far from brutal.

After this thread,we'll probably lose to Bournemouth and it will be meltdown again ;) but seriously, what a time to be a blue, and I question any City fan who isn't getting giddy at the thought of what's possible in the next 3 years.
