Blah blah blah, nobody expects instant success you buffoon but they expect at the very least an improvement over last season considering hes spent ridiculous amounts of money and keeps telling us how great he is and how his training techniques make teams stronger, just before fielding a team 50% injured. Or telling us his teams do better in the second half of the season, only for us to do shit, he's running out of excuses for failing to make an impact despite being given unlimited funds

End of thread.

do you go to all the games?

Yes I do I also look at the season as a whole, not one good win against Arsenal and the batterings of some shitbox teams like Hull and Portsmouth if thats what you're getting at.

no, not at all, someone told me that you didnt thats all.

with regards to hughes i agree with your point about the wins against arsenal, pompey papering over the cracks, but id also say he has learned more about the players in the bad games and has made up his mind who he wants to get rid of. i personally think hel execute a mass clearout this summer (in excess of 20 players), get rid of all the dead wood, the players who arent up to the grade, the ones with the bad attitude, the ones who have let him, the club and the fans down. i feel hel then build on the signings hes already made and start to assemble a team with a bit of back bone. a bit of steel, players who have won trophies and go into games expecting to win them. at the min i think we are still too lightweight, our players (the majority) are still to naieve. i think that wil change next season. he has only had a day of the last transfer window and january which is traditionally a hard time to sign players. lets see who he signs in the summer.

of the win last night he has bought an extra year in my opinion. i do worry about the massive groundswell of opinion against hughes though. it wont be long until the hughes out chants start. but peoples expectations are far too high. the guy has had 9 months (a cliche a know) to change a rotten culture, a trophy free 32 years, when weve been relegated countless times and have only finished something like 8th as our highest position in the premier league. originally i though hed def get 3 years in charge, but i kow feel that if he doesnt produce next year hel be gone . either way , i think people better get used to the idea, he aint going nowhere.

I aint a Hughes fan, I give him credit for the job he done with Blackburn but I just dont think he is the right manager to take us where we want to go,
BUT ....
... We have to stop the management merrygoround, he still has players from 3 and 4 managers ago on the books, ie quantity and not quality,
So if we sack him, next gaffer brings in 5 new players and were pretty much in the same boat with the same whinging 12 months down the line.
Lets see what Hughes does over summer and in 12 months time lets see if there is any progress, and if there is then its not a bad thing.
Now i like this.......where not in complete agreement ,but he's willing to take a controlled opinion, and looking at the greater good.Good on ya fella !

I dont know what to think anymore.

I dont wanna keep going through the mill with managers but after the Fulham match I just thought - OUT! Yer shite.
But after some time im not so sure - think im a fence sitter.

If we had a world class, world renown manager to appoint then great but we dont have one and even if we did it wont guarenteee succes - look at big Phil for Chelsea.

I think maybe another season - results till end of season dependant(if we lost every game till the season end for eg he'd have to go).

On the upside - ANY manager needs more time and more transfer windows. We have stacks of crap players on our books and they need to go and a better squad - not just first team - building.

On the down side - Hughes has made some stupid decisions and plays 50% fit players well out of their natral positions far too often. He has stupid decisions - (not using all our subs last night when it was clear to everyone that Richards was shattered, Fresh legs against a tired defence might of made a difference).

People go on about his buys but I dont think there all too great.
Bellemy - was a great buy but its a known fact that he is injury prown and thats cost us - if we had him upfront last night for eg.
Zabalete - Chases the ball instead of challanging it for it waaay too often. again last night he chased the ball from one end of the pitch to the other without putting in a single challange. I dont rate him.

And if we play with two DM at home for another match FFS!!!

Intresting debate but I just dont know if hughes should stay.

You need 3 things to attract big name players.

1.Money - Check!
2.To be challanging for trophys year after year - Nope
3.A manager who can attract big name players - Nope.

At least a wold name manager would give us 2 out of 3.

How are we ever going to be successful if we don't give the manager time. We are renound for sacking managers over the last 20 to 30 years & now with all our riches don't you think it's about time we had some stability within the management setup. All you have to do it look at our poorer relations in Salford. They were going to sack their manager but thought better of it & he's built one of the most successful teams that this country has ever produced (ouch! That hurt to write that).

Lets stick with Mark & support him in building the greatest club the world has ever seen

you must have been watching a different game to me. he was outstanding last night. quality player.

I'm no Hughes fan I'll admit, but if I could see some genuine progress then I'd be more than happy to give him more time.

Fact is that with a much improved squad (credit where it's due he has in the main bought good players) we've got 38 points and we're in mid April. That is under performing in anyone's book.

His team selection has regularly been suspect to say the least and his substitutions (or not) have often baffled me and most people around me in the ground. On top of that he tends to promote a generally negative brand of play.

I think it's true that a lot of fans have a genuine dislike of the man (whether that's because of his red roots doesn't really matter). I don't think we'll be hearing any 'Hughsie' chants this side of him leading us to winning the champions league.

So all things considered, he's not the man to take us forward imho, in which case the sooner he goes the better.

In out shake it all about. Sick of doing the Hughes in/out bollocks, only ADUG and our Chairman will decide that, and I'm happy to let them.

What I did notice about our manager last night was his passion when we scored. He has been accused of 'not seeming to give a shit' on the touchline in the past, but thats just his demeanor I think - he couldnt stay stoic last night, not under those circumstances, and fair play to him. Maybe he does care after all....

Well if my boss had flown in specially to watch my performance I'd have given it everything as well..:)

In fairness though I couldn't care less about how he looks on the touchline - except when he has that baffled frown I'll admit that does worry me - just coach, prepare and motivate the team for the match and show some balls when it come to having to change things when its not working.
