Given will cost City £12m
CITY will have to pay £12m if they want to prise Shay Given from Newcastle United. And they will have to add at least another £5m to get closer to Blackburn's inflated £20m valuation should they go back for a third time for Paraguyan striker Roque Santa Cruz.

Republic of Ireland star Given has indicated that he would fancy a fresh challenge away from St James' Park.

He is a very good keeper, 12mil is a lot though!!! I want to see some movement though as we are rapidly moving towards mid JAN!!!

need a new defence, given is great but he shipped 5 last week due to the men in front of him not doing their jobs properly. joe hart has done nothing wrong. given will have the same here unless its realised that we have nothing to motivate the back 4 competition wise

unless we sort the defence nothing will alter. we could bring buffon and the guy would be a jibbering blundering mess within a month. we need a vidic and a terry in our central defence
