just spoke to rangers fan i know, glasgow green on east side of city, near celtic park, so not suitable for meet up,so stick to pubs on paisley rd west, 10-15 pubs from city centre to the ground , great pubcrawl

I'd rather stay away from the Rangers fans down Paisley Rd. Doesn't take much to irritate them, and they will be looking for trouble as they did, or a small minority, in Manchester.

Why would rangers fans look for trouble with city ?? And another point while im here you wont see any ira/plo/hamas/eta flags at ibrox just BRITISH FLAGS.

city fans will be made welcome in glasgow as we were in manchester
if anyone thinks it was the real rangers fans who caused all the trouble then im sorry but you are wrong(arrested fans all from outside glasgow)
ive got 10 mates coming up for this game and they will be my houseguests and we all will have a great time

People started rumour mongering this time last year when the Celtic fixture was announced yet the only bother was caused by Scottish idiots in the away end with the GSTQ chants. City fans should stick to the town or the west end where you have the choice of about 4/5 subway stations that take you directly to Ipox.

speaking as someone who stays in Glasgow I wouldnt drink in the Paisley Road West area which is near Ibrox, done these pubs as part of the subcrawl and I know they may be different on match days but they have been dodgy when Ive been in them !! anywho if some of you lot are up for a few days or ever in Glasgow for a weekend give the subcrawl a bash !!!! (www.subcrawl.bravehost.com)

Its also illegal to drink on the streets up here and you get a fine if caught, the police are very strict with it !!!

Ashton Lane would be a great place to go its a nice part of the city and has a good reputation as well, had many a good night out there and who knows if Noel G's up for the game you will probably see him in Jinty McJintys in the lane !! Byers Road is also just round the corner which has a lot of decent pubs as well such as Curlers and Tennents Bar and there are loads of food places as well, theres also a Hilton across from Oran Mor if anyone wants to stay in this part but its easy enough to get to on the subway from the centre.

some useful links for Glasgow

underground websites, Hillhead is the closest station to Ashton lane and Byers Road

my gaffs also fully booked out for the game now if its a goer and as much as id love to keep you all heres a few
hotels for you !!!

the etap is probably the cheapest in Glasgow and not to far from the City centre just jump over one of the many bridges and your there !!!

http://www.etaphotel.com/gb/hotel-3503- ... ndex.shtml

like Manchester all the big chains are pretty central there are a few Travel Lodges and Travel Inns dotted about and Ibis, Hilton, Marriot etc in the centre, the nearest to Central Station is the Radisson and the Jurys Inn and at the closest to the bus station is the Thistle Hotel but to be honest most are 15-20 minutes walk top from the centre !

wee map for city centre hotels

west end hotels (ashton lane/byers road)

if anyone wants anymore info or help just pm me and ill get an answer for you or do my best to find things out, cheers

C'mon guys, we ned to decide where to meet. We have 2 suggestions, 1 being Ashton Lane and the other being Paisley Road.

Im all for Ashton Lane, only cos im a snob in a poor man's body, and i want to go to Vodka Wodka again for their different flavours of Schnapps, but i'll go with the majority.

I'm with you Ricster, Ashton Lane is the best place to drink in Glasgow (maybe the Merchant city) in the summer. It has a cosmopolitan feel about it. Not sure if the West end is ready for an invasion from Mancunia but its a cool place and there will be no mither. We can stand outside drinking in the cobbled street and the tube station to Ibrox is seconds away. The Rangers fans at work are getting excited about it and have taken an interest in who we are buying as it was reported in the press up here we will take our full strength team. Hope the weather is better than last year when it pissed it down all day. By the way that was a great post Tolmie, loads of good advice and by the way my gaff is full to the rafters also lol.
