Whatever your personal preferences (and they leave me cold, before you ask), Coldplay absolutely nailed it when they appeared a few years back.
But their music is dull and uninspiring.

I wouldn’t go and watch them live as I don’t like the direction their music took (frankly, their songs are shit now), but I still listen to their first album.Coldplay are just one of those bands people use as a punchline because it's "the thing" to do.
Anyone who knows anything about live music appreciates what an accomplished live act they are.
People love them though and they do put a good show on for those people.

Same, first album was brill, second was alright then it went downhill.I wouldn’t go and watch them live as I don’t like the direction their music took (frankly, their songs are shit now), but I still listen to their first album.

Not for them as a band though, they exploded even bigger from their 3rd album onwards. Albums hitting number 1 and World tours all sell outs.
