Headliner? Nick Cave.
you don’t have to know his music to enjoy his shows.

Yeah but realistically you're just saying an artist that you like that you would like to see headline without common sense behind it


Nick Cave is one of the best act I've ever seen, and I love his music but put him on the pyramid Stage as a headline and it would go down like a lead balloon because you at least need a decent amount of tunes that the average punter knows.

It doesn't matter how good he is live, your average festival punter wants to have a sing song and have a bit of a party atmosphere. 90% of them are not going to stand through two hours of Nick Cave playing songs they've never heard and they might half recognize Red Right Hand or something cos they heard on telly and didn't even know who sings it. As much as id personally prefer to watch Nick Cave run through a 9 minute rendition of The Mercy Seat, the truth is he wouldn't make a good headliner at all.

Anybody who thinks Nick Cave could headline Glastonbury is just trying to sound cool.

To be fair mate the 40's and even the 50's are well represented at Glastonbury now.

I bet there's loads in that age group that couldn't name many more Pink Floyd tracks without the use of google.

Im 50 and at school/college there were about 5 or 6 of us who knew a fair amount of their catalogue but we all had older parents, so our brothers were 10 to 15 yrs older who were into Floyd, King Crimson, Jethro Tull in the early 70s.

Most people who grew up in the 80s could name more songs by Bananarama, Wet Wet (fucking) Wet or Bros, than Floyd.

The Verve pulled it off years ago so why would Oasis fail to do.
Brit Pop was huge at it's peak,see no reason why Oasis would fail at Glastonbury.
If the bang average at best for fighters and QOTSA draw the crowds Oasis would shit all over them.
I'm not an Oasis fan boy but they were huge at the time and any reunion will have all the festivals trying to have them headlining next year.

Oasis would smash Glastonbury.

The mix of music and styles makes it. Guns N Roses were a car crash so plenty left to watch Lana Del Rey who rocked up late but was very impressive. I wouldn't imagine many fans would typically like both styles of music, but the Oasis hype, helped by their constant bickering to stay relevant, means they'd secure an absolutely monstrous crowd at Glasto.

QOTSA are a niche band but live, they sound almost identical to in the studio and have a drummer now who is pretty capable although still not Dave Grohl!

Foo Fighters are anything but average, an incredible live band.

GNR were a world presence. Known the world over. Still are. Oasis weren't then and are definitely not now. Wrong venue completely. Never conquered the US. They were a right time right place band with some excellent tunes. The right attitude. Captured the feeling at the time perfectly. Sure you could say the same for GNR but they did it globally.

Maybe not worldwide, but the majority of the Glastonbury crowd are British and will mostly know of Oasis’ songs.

Add on that What's the story pisses all over sales wise anything Pink Floyd has done in the UK.

Fuck me Mark, take the glasses off! Pink Floyd, proper reunion would outsell Oasis 10-1. Easily.

As I've said, happy to see an Oasis reunion, Missus would go mental and it would cost me an arm and a leg but would be well worth it. I'd love to see it. But the world and his Wife would want Floyd tickets.

No chance

Oasis would still bring in 20's/30's crowd, alot more higher than Pink Floyd would.

If there was a gig tomorrow in the UK and it was free... Oasis would draw the bigger crowd.

If I was a betting man, rather than being someone bored at work, I reckon a reasonable bet for the next headliners would be something along the lines of Taylor Swfit or Harry Styles as the big pop act, Blur/Pulp (or Oasis if they get back together), then either a big hip hop act or a big old rock act like AC/DC (can't think of any others!).
