Glastonbury 2025

Really? I've only listened to the one album from her, Prioritise Pleasure, but I thought it was great.
Yeah, I mean I’m not saying her music is awful, it’s ok but not that special (imho). What I mean really is that her take on things generally is quite interesting, and I think she may end up having a future ‘public life’ outside of just singing her songs. She has something about her.
I know it reads like a criticism but it’s not really meant to be.

I'm glad others on here liked her, never seen her perform before or heard any of her music but I really enjoyed her set. Was loathe to say anything last night as it seemed to be a Prodigy love-in on here (who I've seen live a couple of times so nothing really new for me there). Okay so a lot of it was fairly generic punk-lite material in the vein of an Avril Lavigne but she has quite a distinctive vocal, real stage presence and seems a good kid. And she is also fully aware of our musical heritage, evidenced by her wheeling on Robert Smith. The Cure being one of my favourite bands I really enjoyed that section.
Sounds like the debut by Janelle Monae about 4 Glastonbury ago. Brilliant performer who went on to be a very big star.

Still can't get over that prodigy set. Re watched it twice today.

Immense.

It was firestarter that got me, Maxim standing in quiet reverence to Keith, watching the crowd going nuts and them not playing his vocals but having Keith’s image on the screen at the same time managed to simultaneously be the most powerful and poignant moment of the whole festival.

The issue for me is that these 'older' 'notalgic' acts are massively overrated and tickets invariably hugely overpriced.

Rod Stewart just can't sing any more. Anyone who thinks otherwise must be tone deaf. Rod knows it and Michael Eavis knows it. It was just a cash cow for an old bloke who doesn't need the money, no more no less.... Exactly the same as Oasis; trawling out 30-odd year old songs for thousands of pissheads clinging on to some vestige of the 1990s.

That's what nostalgia is all about. That's why future Glastonbury 'legends' slots will include geriatric crap from the likes of Oasis, Suede, Stone Roses etc

yet they will draw the biggest crowds over any other artist, despite fans knowing the artists voice isn’t as good as it used to be they still absolutely love the performance- when the demand is that much the ticket prices will remain high.

Great, I'll check it out. As I say, I absolutely loved their first one.

I'm Weezer now. Perfect afternoon song in the sun.

Love Weezer, will always end up listening to the whole Blue album if a song comes up on shuffle.

If the last time you Fontaines was around Dogrel/A Heroes Death, I would recommend listening to Skinty Fia first.

They have grown and changed their sound a lot since albums 1&2, I think going straight from Dogrel into Romance with it's 90's nu metal nostalgia and rapping on Starburster (incredible song though) might be a bit jarring.

Skinty Fia is a fantastic album so worth listening to in it's own right.

Massively overrated legends, doesn’t really make much sense that. They’re legends because they’ve done it all and have got millions of fans still. If Oasis headlined Glastonbury this weekend the pyramid stage would have been the busiest we’ve seen for years. They’re past it, but their music has passed the test of time. I hope they stay away from that shambles of a festival anyway. Give me a good rock band over shite like Olivia Rodrigo and the lass who headlined last year any day of the week.

Maybe the best approach is to acknowledge your voice is now shit and compensate for it by having plenty of talented backing singers, kind of what we saw with Nile Rogers. Could barely hear him at times but didn't seem to matter when you had that massive-norked lass belting out the tunes.

Rodrigo plays girl teen angst stuff. Not aimed at me but I can appreciate the backing band. Thought her singing was a little flat but fair fucks to her. It's a huge market and she seems to have done well for herself.

Prodigy were the highlight for me. Liked Numan, especially since he's gone back to nearer his original roots. Old timers like Rod have had their day vocally but you can't moan about their back catalogues.

Glastonbury has to move with the times, it has to aim itself at the teen-30 odd brigade with the odd 'legends' thrown in for the TV watchers.

Now...if only Depeche Mode would kiss and make up with Eames...

I find it very strange. I suppose it's the current obsession with Instagram/Facebook "likes", and 'fear of missing out' that some people measure their lives by nowadays.

FOCs who saw bands at their peak, probably in small venues, will understand just how sad some of these acts are in old age!

That said, I'm going to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in a couple of weeks, for the first time in about 50 years... I'm fully expecting them to be not much better than a pub band.

Bloody hell, I'm nearly as bad as that Glastonbury crowd!

To be fair, Nile never sang leads with Chic apart from the odd album track. Norks were always employed even back in the 70s, maybe not as big though.

1- the IDF is not a race

2- Lucy Connolly went on Twitter called for a final solution towards every single non white person, you know the people who had their houses burned down by racist thugs for simply existing.

You support Man City a club with many ethnic minorities have some fucking shame, maybe think about supporting Millwall instead if you wanna fanboy for that racist cow.
I disagree. It's IMO disgrace that Connolly got a prison sentence for a tweet, seen by hardly anyone, and quickly deleted.

BTW, it's also debatable whether she was even inciting violence. What she actually said was she said "set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care"

The last 4 words are critical because they moderate the meaning entirely. Without them, it's a clear call for violence. With them, it's more of a "I wash my hands of it, do what you like", the interpretaion of which would not even be illegal, let alone imprisonable.

Either way I think putting someone in jail for a tweet (however appalling) is ridiculous. I strongly suspect it has Starmer's prints all over it, leaning on former judiciary chums.
