I head a bit on the way round to Prodigy they sounded better to me, i wished I'd stayed

Her lyrics are really sharp, self-aware and witty, astonishing for songs written at 19 (same with Billie Eilish and Lorde).I can see the comparison with Avril Lavigne's spiky stuff, but Rodrigo has far more material already. That said, I prefer the piano driven reflective stuff (Grudge, Teenage Dream, Drivers Licence, Favourite Crime).

Horrible clash with the Prodigy, mind. Both great.

Agree with that. She's very theatrical, see that video for the closing "Deep Blue Okay" which is an astonishing bit of acting as well as one of the year's great songs. The albums aren't ones I play repeatedly but I must have watched that video 20 times.

Yes, she did a bit of acting when younger so I understand.
 
The Prodigy set looked to have finished earlier than planned. The frontman even did a live time-check, "Its 10:58pm, one more song" I glanced at my watch thinking, there's 15 minutes left.

So I switched over when Prodigy finished to see the final 15 mins of Olivia Rodrigo and was pleasantly surprised by her stage presence for such a young age and her enthusiasm and appreciation of closing out Glastonbury shone right through. Watched her set in full this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.

A talented musician and performer, and pleasant on the eye, I'm a convert, well done, lass.

BTW, it's also debatable whether she was even inciting violence. What she actually said was she said "set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care"

The last 4 words are critical because they moderate the meaning entirely. Without them, it's a clear call for violence. With them, it's more of a "I wash my hands of it, do what you like", the interpretaion of which would not even be illegal, let alone imprisonable.

Either way I think putting someone in jail for a tweet (however appalling) is ridiculous. I strongly suspect it has Starmer's prints all over it, leaning on former judiciary chums.

It's morally a dreadful thing to say, of course. But not caring whether someone is killed or not, is absolutely not the same thing legally as calling for them to be killed. There's no crime in not caring about it and no-one should be in jail for saying it.

Watched The Prodigy set last night. Incredible, but didn't expect anything less.

Every time I've seen them live they have been superb. In fact the best gig I went too was watching them at Manchester Arena in 2005.

Crazy to think Maxim is nearly 60!!

Anyone who hasn't seen them live and are going to Thier gig at Co-op Live in April are in for a treat

Prodigy have such an incredible back catalogue that you can always name songs they didnt play that should be but for me, warriors dance is as much of a must as your firestarter or breathe, it just hits so hard live. Always has done everytime ive witnessed them live. my only minor critique of an otherwise flawless set.

Still too many phones in the crowd for my liking but a noticeably smaller percentage of them amongst that crowd than you'll see in other crowds. Put your phone away and live that moment, you can rewatch the entire set online from a professional camera not some potato cam that's bouncing everywhere, there's no reason to take yourself out of that moment to film it.

I never get the phone thing. Who are you actually going to bore to tears by showing them footage from your camera phone when they can quickly go onto iPlayer or YouTube and watch the professional production of the very same event?

Prodigy were the highlight for me. Liked Numan, especially since he's gone back to nearer his original roots. Old timers like Rod have had their day vocally but you can't moan about their back catalogues.

Glastonbury has to move with the times, it has to aim itself at the teen-30 odd brigade with the odd 'legends' thrown in for the TV watchers.

Now...if only Depeche Mode would kiss and make up with Eames...

Depeche would die flat on their arse on the Pyramid Stage. They're not a festival band.
The dream was always to see Depeche at Glasto. But, after seeing them at multiple festivals over the years, it's just not the same as their own gigs.
They would be perfect for an Other Stage headliner against a pop act. I don't think their ego would go for that. They're too big for the Other Stage.
They should tick all the boxes for headliner. Unfortunately, from my experience of them at festivals and my time at Glastonbury, I just don't see them fitting.
I will be more than happy at a new album and tour.
