Glastonbury

First time for me and the best place I've ever been. Forget the stages and the line up, you could go there for 5 days not see a band and have the time of your life. Shangri la is probably the most fucked up place I've ever been, some of the stuff going on round there is crazy. As for anyone that thinks it's full of 'too cool for school' types (anyone that uses that saying is one of the said types) needs to get themselves down to shangri la at half 6 in the morning and then see if you have changed your mind. Feel rough as hell now but worth it, definitely going next year.

-- Mon Jun 28, 2010 9:49 pm --

I didn't enjoy watching Stevie Wonder as I don't like his music. The same goes for Muse, however, from what I saw on TV, Gorillaz, Hot Chip and Orbital were flipping fantastic!

suppose you need to be there to make a proper judgment. I don't like Muse but thought they were good but I quite like Gorrilaz and thought they were terrible, completely killed it. Wrong booking for a headline slot on the main stage, everyone was walking off after 2 songs, didn't hear one person all weekend say they were good.

I guess that some of the Gorillaz songs don't have the energy for a live audience. In my experience of festivals some bands can come across well live but sound crap on TV and vice versa.

How is it getting tickets for Glastonbury? Thinking of going next year.

i went last year and like others i had the time of my life. will certainly be trying to get some for next year. think they will go on sale in oct or nov.

Tickets go on presale in October.. you need to register first which will open soon as it did last year and a few years previously.. then you can either pay it all in one go or spread the costs out over a few months which is a pretty good deal for people who want tickets but cant afford it all at once.

I seriously would recommend you go as there is something new round every corner.. from the circus field to shangri la to west holts (jazz world) to the glade and up to the park theres just so much to do that you will end up regretting not doing something when you go home.

Ive been 3 fests now and glasto tops them all.. open air.. can bring your own food and booze and drink it next to a stage the food outlets are so diverse.. (I had an argentinian steak and was chatting to the guys behind the counter who had a massive messi poster/flag) ha

Crazy times.. but good times!

and the guy before him was Shaun Ryder!!!

Maybe it's just me but to enjoy a gig I have to know the songs. If I don't know the songs I find it boring.

Therefore for me to go to Glastonbury it would need a headliner like Paul McCartney or Oasis.

There are only a handful of bands where I know more than one or two of their songs.
