I have come to the conclusion that the South must be a s***hole. The amount of Northerners I have ever met that support Southern teams I can count on one hand.

The amount of Southerners who support Northern teams with no familial connection to the area is too numerous to count. These people must have no pride in where they come from. Why would that be? S***holes!

i feel for them, to latch on to something that has fuck all to do with you or your heritage in order to "belong" is actually very sad, and quite shallow.

we are very lucky as we have faraway blues who have been with us through many years or absolute dross, can anyone see that happening at the swamp? not a fucking earthly. at least when we dominate the plastics will leave them as there will be no glory to hunt and our mates can start going to ot again and let the banter begin.

The south is a shit hole?

You need to get out more pal.

I live in Southampton, I'm a blue and always have been, family from Prestwich originally, but your generalisation (about glory hunters, not the area) is actually about right.

It's not only northern teams tho, way too many around this area support Arsenal, Chelsea and Spuds for instance, only reason is the 'glamour and prestige' I suppose. A sense of belonging, though in my mind, only those that go regularly can honestly feel that.

I cannot bring myself to discuss football with non-matchgoers seriously.

I used to go see Southampton a fair bit too when short of cash to go see City, probably been to more of their games than a lot of my mates!

I know it annoys the hell out of me being from the south.

Most people supported Liverpool and United at school, Arsenal probably third and Spurs and Hammers way down the list.

Wankers of the highest order.

Sadly I now live in Utd glory supporter central better known as Peterborough.

I have a Seasoncard but because of the cost don't go to a great number of aways. I was watching the City match down the local and heard from a bloke behind me "That Nasri is shit, he can't pass." To which I responded "I think you'll find he has the second highest assist amount in the league after Silva"

"I've heard Johnson wants to leave as soon as." "Why has he just signed a five year contract then?"

"I must say Steve McManaman's son looks a good player." "I think you'll find he's not his son, but a very distant relation."

Another fella said to the bloke "I think you'd better shut up now, he's making you look a fool."

I might now start watching City away games on my laptop because I can't stand the crap armchair glory hunters come out with. That being said I was in the same pub for the demolition derby, and I've never seen a packed pub empty so quickly!

it's not a north/south thing. it's because in manchester there is a choice of city and united. i've lived in hull for twelve years and most round here support one of the sky four. it's embarrasing. they all have some bullshit reason going back to the '80's but you know it's bullshit. one lad about 3 years ago when we had robinho called me a glory hunter! i lost it and told him all about the shrewsbury match in 88. the funny thing was that despite living in hull all his life, he was an arsenal fan

most of them haven't got the concentration levels required to support hull city.

I find the worst glory hunters to be the ones who are from small towns, like Yeovil and Grimsby. Clubs that are usually around League One or Two, or non league. When the team from that town does something special like reach the playoffs or draw a big team in the FA Cup third round, they jump on the bandwagon, and pretend to be super diehard fans. You can spot them from a mile off. They're the ones in the curly wigs, their faces painted in the clubs colours, usually sporting foam hands, or tin foil FA Cups. Parade around for the big occassions, but when they're facing the likes of Macclesfield or Accrington in League Two, oh no, they're nowhere to be seen. When the game is finished, and the novelty has worn off, its back to supporting the rags, and not giving a shit how the local team do. They sicken me the most, because they "support" the local team only when it suits them, when the TV camera's are on, and can gain brownie points.

This sums Bournemouth (Where I am living) up perfectley. So many rags, you cant go in any pub when they are playing on Sky its fkin mental. Also alot of London team supporters down here but nowhere as near as fake as the rags!

I watch any City games im not going to that are not on free to air TV on the pooter as I cant stand sitting in a bar full of rags and dippers and have a VGA splitter cable so I can view them on the TV.
