They always were until 1974 when boundaries were re-drawn and history was ignored.What about binning Salford off? Let them be the city they always claim to be?

Ok that's them gone then, if we bin off Trafford, Wigan, Oldham and Rochdale we should be able to bring Glossop in and have enough change to fix some potholesThey always were until 1974 when boundaries were re-drawn and history was ignored.

Greater manchester is in many ways ran as a single authority. The 10 boroughs have the same mayor and cooperate on many aspects.Interesting to see if any of thr GM authorities will be forced to merge, the paper say’s authorities should serve about 500,000 people, most in GM get no where near that figure . Based on that number, GM should only have 6 authorities, not 10, the big sharks will be circling to eat up the smaller fish like Bury and Trafford no doubt…
Stuart Hall still alive apparently (94). I think most people knew Savile was a wrong un but not Hall. I remember his Shakespearean half-time catering reports with much laughter before I found out he was a beast. I think Blackburn's pies were best according to SH.

It really isn’t, it’s 10 local authorities , yes they have a mayor through the combined authority but they have really delegated very little to the GMCA , transport, housing strategy… but there are still 10 authorities in their own rightGreater manchester is in many ways ran as a single authority.
