goal diff

T'was very Mourinho'esque to shut up shop the way we did with 15 minutes to go. I can understand why because Spurs had scored a goal and had won a couple of set pieces in quick succession. Can understand him rather closing the door completely, than leaving even a crack of daylight for Spurs to go after.

From a personal point of view, it's what I think will always separate the likes of Mou and Mancini (and Benitez and a lot of other continental managers) from those two dinosaurs of the PL Wenger and Fergie. Neither man would ever dream, at 4 - 1 up, of shutting up shop. They'd do what Fergie's team did do yesterday. Continue to try and score as many as they could.

Different strokes...

And Wenger's Arsenal did not at Newcastle away last season..........

ok see you all back here if we lose out on goal diff

Are you being thick? Do you really think a 38-game season will be decided on goal difference, and that the third gameweek out of 38 will determine this?

You must be either out of your mind or completely drunk right now.

It's our 3rd game in. Give us a break.

We scored 5. Is that not good enough for ya. I've been getting anything City can do we can do better from the RAGs, all in good humor, no need to genuinely get it off a City fan.

BOTH us and the RAGs played excellent games. We were lucky enough to score 5. We should be singing from the rooftops, the Rags were lucky enough to score 8, and they should be, and are, doing the same.
At the end of the day we both got 3 points from it.
We should be celebrating a top performance. Not nitpicking like we lost the game.

It's not just about success, it's about continuity, and I'd take 1-0 wins all season (just like the Rags last season) the rest is down to fate. You win as many games as you can and that's all you can do. The rest is down to luck.

I mean, are we always going to be in their shadow, even when we win so well? Some people are clearly happy miserable.

THOSE SLAGGING THE OP OFF ARE BEING PATHETIC

You're twisting his opinion to make it something he didn't even say

Apparently he "wasn't entertained" or "he's a rag." Stop being so childish. Even if you don't agree with him it doesn't mean he can't have an opinion, if your mate said that in the pub you wouldn't overreact like on this forum.

Some of you seem to think that somebody saying an idea that would nothing but improve our goal difference is slagging him off!!

If Man U played before we did I'm sure others watching the game would have been thinking "just a few more while they are defenseless! They're crumbling so don't take your foot off!"

That's why Fergie didn't tell the team to slow down, he wanted GOALS and goals are what WIN LEAGUES, but some on here think that if somebody is wanting more goals to increase the chances of winning the league is a rag.

If we do lose out to the title to those c*nts by 1 goal then we might all realise that... WE SHOULD'VE GOT 2 MORE GOALS WHEN IT WAS HANDED ON A PLATE.

Now some pathetic looser is going to quote this and put "rag" or a sinking boat because they think differently and want to increase the chances of winning the league.

Some people on here are great and will speak to people as if they were mates, some are embarrassing and think we're currently the greatest team in the world and anyone who thinks the team could improve is having a go at city and/or is a rag.

I wonder how long it is until some posters on here become like the posters on RAWK or Ragcafe.

Oh and I know "it's the 3rd game" and I was "entertained" but at the end of the season it all counts and we're only trying to think of ways to IMPROVE!

-- Mon Aug 29, 2011 3:17 pm --

Are you thick! we lost out to second on GD last season, the season earlier it was 1 point between man u and chelsea. It get's very tight up there!

You know how our team can improve? If some of our so-called fans would get off their back after a demolition of Spurs at WHL.

-- Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:20 am --

Honestly, this criticism would be merited if we dominated Spurs but only won 1-0 or 2-1. Fact is we couldn't beat Spurs at WHL, let alone by 4, a few seasons ago. It's like you people forgot where we've been for all these years.

can somebody tell bobby we might be relying on goal difference come the last day of the season, and ask him why the team fannied around for the last 30 mins ??

did the current chamions ease off in their game ?

We will score shedloads this season and some teams will get severe dickings at the Etihad.. its the rest that need to keep up with us tbh..

Besides, winning the title is about taking points off our rivals, not scoring 15 at Norwich (although I sure would like to see that happen). If we can't beat Chelski and scum both at home and away, scoring shedloads of goals means fuck all.

If the squad needs to improve, it's this. We need to be both fearless and ruthless against the established order. So quit whinging needlessly about "flaws" you see in the team after what is otherwise a flawless performance. Some of you guys, honestly...

i,d go as far as saying this was a bad error on bobbys part stopping attcking ,
if we miss out on the league through lack of a goal even you lot will see this as unprofessional
then again with your intelligence...
You make a fair point, but it's only 1 goal, atm. Surely you'd agree that going for two more when you're 4 up, and your opponents are a man down with @ 10min. to go is simply classless and unsportsmanlike. I appreciated that we chose to play keep-ball rather than rubbing Spuds noses in it.

Plenty of games ahead.

my god its not even september and we have 9 gals get a grip were doing brillaintly some people are never happy! whatever makes your world go round.

thank you bringer.
i remember being at the last game of the season against liverpool some years back needing a point to avoid relegation, made me think that a point is a point whenever in the season its won,so the first game is just as important as the last .yet teams do not panic until its too late.
i loved yesterdays performance other than the endless passing along ,to and from the back four, i,m well aware we scored in the last seconds but theres no doubt united, chelsea, any other top team would certainly not see out the last half hour without trying for more goals
i forgive you all for calling me a rag ,brain cells are needed for an intelligent reply

All joking aside. Yesterday's performance was as good as it gets. If you are a City fan & you are not happy with yesterday I think you need help. It was a perfect performance.

the 20 minutes when we shut up shop IMO were one the most important part of our game yesterday.

our team need to learn how to slow down the game and keep possession avoiding risk and injuries and conserving energy coz this will become very very important during the course of the season
