I can understand why because Spurs had scored a goal and had won a couple of set pieces in quick succession. Can understand him rather closing the door completely, than leaving even a crack of daylight for Spurs to go after.
From a personal point of view, it's what I think will always separate the likes of Mou and Mancini (and Benitez and a lot of other continental managers) from those two dinosaurs of the PL Wenger and Fergie. Neither man would ever dream, at 4 - 1 up, of shutting up shop. They'd do what Fergie's team did do yesterday. Continue to try and score as many as they could.
Different strokes...

Are you being thick? Do you really think a 38-game season will be decided on goal difference, and that the third gameweek out of 38 will determine this?
You must be either out of your mind or completely drunk right now.
Wots childish bout askin the OP if he were not entertained ?bringer678 said:THOSE SLAGGING THE OP OFF ARE BEING PATHETIC
You're twisting his opinion to make it something he didn't even say
Apparently he "wasn't entertained" or "he's a rag." Stop being so childish. Even if you don't agree with him it doesn't mean he can't have an opinion, if your mate said that in the pub you wouldn't overreact like on this forum.
Some of you seem to think that somebody saying an idea that would nothing but improve our goal difference is slagging him off!!
If Man U played before we did I'm sure others watching the game would have been thinking "just a few more while they are defenseless! They're crumbling so don't take your foot off!"
That's why Fergie didn't tell the team to slow down, he wanted GOALS and goals are what WIN LEAGUES, but some on here think that if somebody is wanting more goals to increase the chances of winning the league is a rag.
If we do lose out to the title to those c*nts by 1 goal then we might all realise that... WE SHOULD'VE GOT 2 MORE GOALS WHEN IT WAS HANDED ON A PLATE.
Now some pathetic looser is going to quote this and put "rag" or a sinking boat because they think differently and want to increase the chances of winning the league.
Some people on here are great and will speak to people as if they were mates, some are embarrassing and think we're currently the greatest team in the world and anyone who thinks the team could improve is having a go at city and/or is a rag.
I wonder how long it is until some posters on here become like the posters on RAWK or Ragcafe.
Oh and I know "it's the 3rd game" and I was "entertained" but at the end of the season it all counts and we're only trying to think of ways to IMPROVE!

smeeagain said:can somebody tell bobby we might be relying on goal difference come the last day of the season, and ask him why the team fannied around for the last 30 mins ??

You make a fair point, but it's only 1 goal, atm. Surely you'd agree that going for two more when you're 4 up, and your opponents are a man down with @ 10min. to go is simply classless and unsportsmanlike. I appreciated that we chose to play keep-ball rather than rubbing Spuds noses in it.smeeagain said:def not a rag , and i dont think clueless either
i,d go as far as saying this was a bad error on bobbys part stopping attcking ,
if we miss out on the league through lack of a goal even you lot will see this as unprofessional
then again with your intelligence...

our team need to learn how to slow down the game and keep possession avoiding risk and injuries and conserving energy coz this will become very very important during the course of the season
